^every inch of their downtown? This is freaking Main Street. Most of the rest of downtown is always dead....compared to most other major cities. Downtown KC is just a very quiet place. It's a little better than it used to be on evenings and weekends because people live there now, but daytime is about the same as it has always been since so few people work there.

The river market is noticeably busier than it used to be since it's about six times more built up than it used to be. But if you just drive into downtown KC during a nice weather middle of a day, it will feel very dead and quiet to most people that travel around. It's not really a bad thing for those that live there I guess, but I personally like a bit of hustle and bustle, so that's why I notice KC being different.

Again, there is not a single street that goes totally through downtown connecting surrounding neighborhoods. That's why I wouldn't mind having some traffic on Broadway instead of routing it all on the west loop. Get rid of the access to the loop all together for Broadway and Oak. If people want to take that route to get to I-35, they can make their way to an on ramp in another part of downtown.

No reason to take it so personal that downtown KC really is a pretty dead place unless the venues are active. It's nice to see more and more people out waking around at least during evenings etc.

The Crossroads is MUCH more vibrant than it used to be. North Loop is always dead nmw, even before everyone started working remote.

Once the Royals move to the EV, the north loop section of Main is gonna be the worst part of downtown. By far.

Need to start a petition to shame Tower properties if nothing else.

I mean some people are delusional. I live and walk the crossroads every day and it's not rare for me to be the only person I see out walking at the time.

I think some people confuse businesses doing well to that translating to foot traffic.

It's still very much a car based atmosphere.

Speaking of Crossroads and foot traffic -- is First Fridays still happening tomorrow? I can't find the calendar for whether they're doing it or not.

So if someone knows...

It happens every month, without fail. Some months are bigger than others, of course.

Was it the Calverts garage, or the ones to the south?

1 floor near south had door open. Orange sign on the 2 floor building (can’t read it). Guess is both are going?

Edit:
demo started. Who pays?

Cordish.

Homeless people got in and started fires which caught building on fire compromising the roof and structure.

"Kansas City is a lot of things, but mostly parking."

Thought of this quote when I looked at that photo. There are large buildings, but a significant amount of the shot is structured parking (as you are well aware I know).
