How about we trade Patterson a Kemper teardown and rebuild for a Cerner downtown tower as the cities new highest building?

i would actually be okay with that.

Actually, it would probably be better for him if he paid for the AR demolition and construction himself in exchange for the city giving offsetting money for the Cerner tower, that way he would get the tax benefit.

...and there are references to a physical fight (while wielding a clunky rotary telephone hot-linked to the Presidential Suite at the Crown Center Hotel) between Rocky and delegates from Idaho who were avid Reagan supporters. Happy Rockefeller was upstairs with Betty Ford during this scene, apparently.

Looks like the city will be issuing a new RFP on the sale and redevelopment of Kemper this week. I guess they're not interested in appeasing the AR folks.

PZE took first admin step to clear the way for a national RFP process to begin in the next few weeks. Ford made it known that the current council will likely not still be in office and that the newly elected council will have the RFP selection as one of their first major decisions once elected.

I hope this becomes something we get some insight on from the people running for office...because as of now I don't know any of their stances on this.

I think it would be cool if all the different neighborhoods in the city held bbq competitions amongst their residents throughout the year and then at the end of fall all of the various neighborhood champions faced off to crown a "city champ".

The first thing we care about here is the Chiefs schedule. The American Royal is set this year for October 1-4 when the Chiefs are in Cincinnati and the Royals (that's baseball, not barbecue) are finishing up their regular season schedule out of town. So that works out.

Moving forward, Donovan said the Royal dates could change based on the Chiefs schedule, which is released in April.

"It is going to be one of the annual challenges for us is finding the exact date. The Royal has found ways they can communicate to the competitors later what date it will be."

The Chiefs DID request to the league to be out of town on October 4 this year and they are so they got their wish. But it won't always be like that with the NFL schedule.

"As much as I would love to say that the league is able to accommodate our requests," Donovan said, "we've had years where we've made schedule requests and they've all been accommodate and we've had years where we've made schedule requests and none have been accommodated."

It would actually be kind of cool to incorporate a Chiefs game at the same time as the American Royal, it could be a Sunday Night or Monday Night game
