I don't know if this is directed towards me, but I'll bite.

There have been news reports of Steiner trying to take tenants from all over the northland. They are sending out fliers to businesses in places like downtown parkville offering free rent (like a big colorful circular ad). Some businesses are taking them up on the offer. Wait until retail starts to come back and watch Steiner dissolve their leases.

I didnt make any of this up. Phase ii has like 4 stores. They are desperate.

I went to a SMG in Dallas last summer and it was great - levels were tiered enough so that servers didn't block the screen, and the chairs were comfy with wheels that let you group together with your friends.  Ticket prices were no more than a 'regular' cinema, and the food was pretty good.

good to here! very few similar cities have the cinema assortment of kc. this place sounds like it will only add another option. I wonder if amc will respond across the street with a fork and screen.

The lIberty store has to be on the chop block as well...it's always been a bit out of place on the Historic Square.

Do they still have the "Closed on the Sabbath" sign painted by the door?  I always wanted to wander in on a Fri. and aske them what they were doing open.

Zona Rosa, at the northwest corner of Barry Road and Interstate 29, has several new retailers open or opening just in time for the holidays:

?Bounce House, 8610 N. Dixson Ave., is a child play center featuring inflatable slides, jumpers, and obstacle courses. It has an open-play format, meaning no appointments are necessary. Families also can reserve a private party room for an event.

?Calendar Club/Go Toys & Games has opened a temporary location at 7200 N.W. 86th Terrace. Next spring that space will be home to the locally owned 54th Street Grill & Bar, which features ?American casual cuisine? for lunch and dinner. It will relocate its Barry Road restaurant, which will remain open until just before the move.

?Decori, now open at 7360 N.W. 87th Terrace, sells holiday and home decor items and gifts, including candles, soaps, a hand-sculpted Santa Claus by a local artist, and fairies by California artist Mark Roberts, who will be at the store Nov. 22 to sign some of his works. Also, Constant Cravings will open inside Decori by the end of the month. It will sell coffee, espresso, fudge, glazed nuts, truffles and more.

?Rocketbox Photography Studio & Gallery, now open at 8677 N. Winter Ave., is a full-service photography studio that specializes in senior and family portraits.

?Select Comfort will open in November at 7300 N.W. 87th Terrace. The company sells mattresses, pillows, blankets, bedding, mattress pads and other bedding accessories.

?Skin Deep Aesthetics, now open at 7400 N.W. 87th Terrace, carries medical-grade skin care products and specializes in advanced age intervention procedures.

?Sports Fanatic will open in November at 8630 N. Dixson Ave. It will sell sportswear, sports memorabilia and merchandise.

?Time N Style will open in early November at 7311 N.W. 86th Terrace. It will sell unique watches, jewelry and accessory pieces.

?Vintage Stock opened Saturday at 8500 N.W. Prairie View Road. The entertainment superstore has movies, music and video games, along with vintage toys, vinyl records and comic books, that customers can buy, sell and trade.

Rocketbox Photography will be cool.
The photographer is a local guy, been in KC a few years, and did my wedding.
Pictures turned out great!

You must have the minority opinion on this subject.  Especially given how busy most of the locations are during the lunch and dinner hours.

54th Street is awesome.
1) Its local.
2) Good happy hour and drink specials.
3) Good bar and grill food....better than chains Applebees and Chilis.
4) Huge Menu.

taco bell has a line 12 cars deep sometimes.  chili's can have an hour-long wait.  denny's are sometimes packed.  millions of people stuff their faces with doritos and powerade and other non-food every day.  doesn't change the fact they are terrible.

but hey, obesity is awesome!

FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only in your mind and a few others.  It is not a "fact" accepted by all and is in reality a matter of opinion instead of fact.
