Only 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays compared to 10 PM originally.
Didnt make sense to be open till 10 in the first place.

Stopped in there in Friday night and a few cocktails while my friend was shopping.  Had a conversation with the manager.  A few notes:

1)  Store hours are 8pm.  They will never close before 8pm.  But, if there is good foot traffic, they will stay open as long as people are shopping.

2)  Fashion show is coming up.  Not sure on the date.  Will take place in the retail block alleyway or the Live! block.

3)  Prices are really fair.  At least for the mens clothing.

Friday night before the George Strait(sp?) concert, there was a good number of people in there looking around and buying items.

That fashion show is April 17th.

^More importantly, supported by patrons.  Downtowner residents/workers need to sustain it and not depend on the region to show up.  Use it or lose it downtowners.

That's funny. They do seem to be intended for the more svelt among us.

The gf said that she'd have to lose weight even to fit into a handbag from there

I get what you're saying about it being the same, but remember chicos, ann taylor, j jill, talbots all like to locate next to each other. The same can be said of home interior shops like pottery barn, crate & barrel, z gallerie, restoration hardware. I think grouping multiple tenants with similar audiences is smart. Obvious going after "sex and the city" women > 24.

Could Charming Charlie be an answer for one of the big retail holes in this block?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/charmingcharlie/

They are coming to Summit Fair and Zona Rosa...have stores in StL at West County. It's basically like a huge accessories store from Texas that is growing rapidly. The stores are huge (like the size of a Gap) and apparently arrange all the merchandise by color. It seems like a women's accessories version of Forever 21 (who seemingly Cordish failed to secure). I think this place would be a draw for women to shop downtown and fits nicely with the other local apparel store Cordish already leased. Also, it would compete more with Plaza and suburban retailers than any of the existing boutiques in the city.

P&L will have a Downtown Sidewalk Sale August 6-8. This coincides with MO's sales tax holiday. It's a well-played promotion for P&L. Hopefully, Cordish can draw a few thousand people down there over the course of the weekend-- especially new shoppers. Now that they have a number of small shops down there it might actually look like a place to shop.

Great quality for the money, and great style.  Similar quality ties can be double the price of his.

On a related note, it looks like a beauty supply store is moving into the old Envolve spot @ Professional Building.

just judging from the brands they carry...lovebird looks like it'll be somewhat upscale with anthropolgie-type quasi bohemian stuff.
