One of the towers has scaffolding over a window. Anyone know what's going on there?

Interestingly, nobody currently lives in this condo space from what I understand. So this renovation is being done by the building, not a resident.

Scaffolding was still up this weekend. Has anyone found out anything about it?

don't know, but believe it was recently re-listed for sale at a lower price than i've seen previously (i think $925k). also an HOA fee in the $700/month neighborhood.

I wouldn't want to buy before seeing the 3 and 4 Light Condos.

They’ll need to install some clocks before I’d consider buying
:)

i'd buy yesterday if i had the $$$$ to buy and the $$$ to do a complete gut and reno. nothing like watching the gradual imp/explosion of worcester management from a good vantage point!

Can one of you construction people tell me, how much is it just to erect scaffolding at that height/scale? Not to mention whatever work is being done. Seems insanely expensive.

I initially assumed it was for tuckpointing brick or some such, but if that was the case I don’t think it would all be concentrated around such a specific area. Even if they were replacing the glass in the windows I don’t think it would take that much scaffolding.

My heart hopes it’s the return of the clock faces, but I know it’s almost certainly not that.

they're supposedly fixing a leak or something in the green top. i have heard that people that live on the top apartment floor or two (the ones under the penthouse, although maybe in the penthouse too) have had pretty bad leaks, water coming in through ceiling/drywall. supposedly they're trying to fix that, or something related to that. it's definitely not anything cool.

there's been a casual facebook group for 909 tenants for years and years. it's basically what you expect, people posting events in the area or "stop dropping cigarettes on my patio!!!" or pictures of resident events. the manager of the group is pretty involved with neighborhood organizations so it actually tends to be more useful than not.

since the building was sold in 2018 there have been some posts on the group that are critical of the things that management has done. using the past month as an example, apparently maintenance employees have told tenants that management refused to do preventative maintenance on the plumbing system servicing floors 6+ and that's probably why several units across multiple floors flood on a now-regular basis; apparently this scaffolding project has resulted in enormous amounts of noise for a very extended period of time on the upper floors during business hours when everyone is working from home and management refused to send anyone up to hear what it was like or work with those in affected units; and apparently multiple tenants were told the building wasn't going to cut 24 hour security only to have the security contract terminated two weeks after they signed a lease renewal. stuff like that.

anyway, worcester communities / worcester investments has apparently told the manager of the facebook group no one is allowed to talk about the facebook group at events or post flyers about the group. i'm in fight club!

this is the second time management has dealt with the facebook group in a bizarre way. the first time, an employee joined the group under the guise of being a new resident that thinks worcester is great and started gaslighting people who said anything critical about management until someone pulled him up on linkedin and saw he worked for them.

i, uh, absolutely would not recommend that anyone sign a lease at 909 walnut or flashcube.
