I'm jealous. I usually get stuck in PDX or Eugene for a week and my consolation is a 1 day float/fly fishing trip on the Willamette or Columbia.

Rogue started here in Ashland, and had the brewery in Newport too. The 1997 New Year's Day Flood  wiped out the Ashland brewing facility
and he never rebuilt.

I was making a joke, but even so, I suspect those are all technically in small towns and cities.

The principal difference is that when you're in Portland, such selection that there is in breweries is at arm's reach, what with it being an accessible city and all. I have visited there several times, and have never used a car except to leave town.

Whoever made that site needs to go back to html school.

Even with a WYSIWYG, their site sucks.

But yes, Oregon is an awesome beer state.

Oregon has a real cultural reverence for comestibles in general, its one of the coolest things about it.

Oden arrrives by MAX at downtown party

With a huge sign in the background saying "Weclome to Rip City," No 1. draft pick Greg Oden arrived at a rainy noon rally in downtown Portland.

Police escort? Nope

Limo? Wrong again.

Oden, who continues to impress fans as an accessible, regular guy, stepped off a MAX train boarded at the Rose Quarter, into Portland's living room at Pioneer Courthouse Square, where thousands of fans who had gathered cheered wildly as he moved onstage, holding a folded red umbrella

"This is crazy," Oden said after being introduced to the crowd by veteran Blazer icon Bill Schonely. "I'm honored to be here. I can't wait to play and win."

"As the mayor of Rip City, I want to welcome to Greg Oden to Portland," said Mayor Tom Potter, who also showed up.

The rally capped off a whirlwind day of wheeling and dealing for the Trail Blazers. In addition to picking Oden, the Blazers traded top scorer Zach Randolph and secured other prospects in later picks in the annual draft.

okay, i'm thinking towards heading to portland again. i'm debating if i should even stop in denver and spend a night in a Cheyenne motor inn  and then camp my way to pdx. maybe we all should have a meeting point--temporal oblivious.

then, i might want to go to new belgium again for my birthday. or?

Warwickland, if you stop in Ft. Collins, you can then take US287 to Laramie, a lot cooler town(relative to Cheyenne). If you're taking I 80 to I 5, I'll show you around Southern Oregon. Crater Lake and Beer.
