Kinda a "design nerd" update on the new Lulu's...
Stir (which created the design/branding for Julian/Glace/Christopher Elbow/BLVD) is doing branding on the new Lulu's. They posted on Twitter that you can you catch a sneak peak of the new brand on a wall a block east of the existing Lulu's on SW BLVD.

I would be so fat if I lived in the freight house district. It would be too easy to go out for BBQ, Italian, Thai, etc.

After living there for four years let me assure you that the risks from those options are not nearly as devastating as the damage done from having a place that sells shakes and greasy hamburgers open 24 hours a day, a couple hundred yards from your door.mudjack wrote: I would be so fat if I lived in the freight house district. I went friday to the new location. Feels cold compared to the cozy confines of the sw blvd site.

Re: Noodle places
No one ever answered this and I have the same question - can anyone get a good bowl of ramen in KC? Seems like fresh-made ramen is a big culinary trend, at least on the coasts. I saw some program on it the other day and it got me jonesing for some good noodles.bobbyhawks wrote: Do any Japanese or Korean places in town serve actual made from scratch ramen soup?... preferably North of 103rd.
I'd love a token-based ramen-ya joint downtown.

Re: Noodle places
Even though it isn't officially ramen, I highly suggest you try one of the JOCO Cantonese restaurants such as Jen Jen or Pine Bamboo. It is common to have wonton soup with egg noodles.KCMax wrote: No one ever answered this and I have the same question - can anyone get a good bowl of ramen in KC? reviewing this old post, i must confess it is incorrect. the space is currently still on the market. there's an undisturbed turn-of-the-century apartment on the second floor!DaveKCMO wrote: a new thai place is taking their old spot.

Ate at my next door neighbors place in City Market today, Hien Vuong. I had spring rolls and some kind of noodle soup with beef in it. There was fresh greens that you tore up and put in it. It was really good on a chilly day.

Definitely the beef pho. Did you add plenty of Sriracha? Can't have Pho without heat.shinatoo wrote: Ate at my next door neighbors place in City Market today, Hien Vuong. Is that the "Roster" Sauce? If so then, YES. I have a jar of that at home. It was odd because i try not to season to much the first time I try things, but my buddy said that's kind of how pho works.smh wrote: Definitely the beef pho. Did you add plenty of Sriracha? Can't have Pho without heat.
