A picture of today's work... installing a new manhole. To the left, digging a big hole. To the right, the form that will be lowered into the hole later and poured with concrete.

They might be finished before July 30th? But then again, they might close another street after that.

Looks like 13th WILL be open in time for your tour. They are putting down the asphalt right now... all the way south to halfway between 13th and 14th.
14th looks like it'll still at least other week before they are ready for surfacing, they're still doing a lot of digging at that end.

Though Walnut is still closed on both sides of it, 13th Street is now open.

Luckily I can't see out the window when I'm sitting at my desk, there's a bookcase in the way.

There's still working tonight past 6:30 digging right at 14th & Walnut. Also, within the past few hours, the construction reached Truman Road so westbound Truman is now closed from Grand to Baltimore.

I didn't know this was going to be part of the work but they have now started tearing up 14th Street between Walnut and Grand. Not as extensively though, just 1 lane.

If you didn't notice, Truman Road reopened a few days ago. 14th looks like it could reopen any day now... the only reason it's still closed is a large hole in the far left lane where they are still making utility connections and a large pile of fill material in the right 2 lanes to fill in that hole.
They've done kind of a half-assed job of resurfacing Walnut and 14th but that's understandable since both roads are likely going to be torn to shreds and resurfaced again during the massive construction to come.

Here's the latest openings/closings starting next week and remaining until the H&R Block HQ is complete (and probably P&L district)
Opening: Walnut from 13th to 12th.
Closing:
Main between 13th & 14th
Walnut between 13th & Truman
13th between Main & Walnut
14th between Main & Walnut
12th between Walnut and Grand will be closed for 3 weeks, during that time, 14th will have one lane open.

Well, they have repaved the two center lanes of Walnut. While it would have been more expensive, they should have gone ahead and rebuilt all four lanes. Now they'll have to come back in a few more years when the other town lanes become obsolete.

I think they just did a quick and dirty repaving job to make the road usable as need be, as they are continuing to dig new trenches and holes all over the place for H&R Block.

I would bet that whole road will be torn up again before P&L district is open and will be all redone...I mean it's almost a guarantee that the curb and streetscaping will, I assume they won't have a ugly different color strip of asphalt running through their new district.

Baltimore is now closed between 14th and 13th. They closed it yesterday morning, don't know how long it will be closed. They're digging a hole in the street for utility work, I assume for the President but it could also be H&R Block related.
This created a bit of trouble yesterday because the parking garage for the P&L Building is on that block and the closure was unannounced. There are other ways in via alleys and someone later opened a gate and removed a chain that allowed indirect access from 14th, but the main problem was that since no one knew it was going to be closed, by the time you could see the "road closed" sign the only option was to go around the entire construction project... currently more than a mile of a detour... in order to get to the alley leading to a garage entrance only 70 feet away!
Now that everyone here knows about the closure though it's smooth, everyone just heads straight for the alleys.
The CIMO site doesn't list anything about this road closure. Anyone know of any other sources where I can find out how long the road will be closed?
