Well, I hope this place doesn't end up empty.  I doubt it will though.

And come on Cordish, put something cool in that great corner location at 14th and Grand across from Sprint and Raglan Road! :)  Gameworks, D&B???  Might be too small for those I guess.

Disclaimer: the following statement is not something I think is needed, but this is KC....

I'm surprised there is not an entrance to the underground parking garage via 14th like between Ragland Road and GB where there is a service entrance now. I'm sure that would have made the garage more expensive and complicated, but that might have been something that would have helped the south side of the district.

Again, I don't have any problems parking downtown, but parking is still a huge issue for most people in KC.

If we want generic Chicago Pizza, I vote we hit up Lou Malnati's for an expansion outside Chicagoland. At least they have good pizza.

Gino's!  Not sure you would call that a chain though.

I could do Gino's or Giordano's, too.

Correct. I will cease all attempts at humor for six hours.

Please let it not be Dave and Buster's. I still have a headache from going to that place. And it makes me feel old.

I couldn't agree more! I HATE that place.  Stupid Showbiz Pizza games and Rainforest Cafe food.  That's the type of place that will be gone in five years.

I think the casinos have set up Dave and Busters as a prepubescent gambling training ground.

They are plucking the sign off of Famous Dave's as we speak. Closed.

Well that was certainly worth losing Little Jake's for.

They should apologize to Little Jake and give him free rent there for 6 months.  He still probably couldn't stay open after that...or could he?

Saying nothing about the merits (or lack of) OC or Uno in general, I do like the idea of having another sit down place in the district where you can take your 12 year old into that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.  True, it doesn't have to be directly in the district, someplace close would be fine.  But speaking from the middle-aged father of two standpoint, I'd welcome something like this.

The city drove lil jakes out to drive famous dave business?  Where did I miss this conspiracy theory?

From what I remember the city tried to get jakes another downtown location but the owner balked on that due to it not being his own building.

Agreed.  Now, I don't have kids, so maybe I have a different definition of "family-friendly."  But, there are countless places in CBD with ample seating and reasonably priced food.  What more does a family need?  Kid's Menus?

I don't care for the place (D&B), but was just throwing out ideas.  Gameworks seems about the same, but they do tend to locate in urban developments like P&L.

If you could choose anything, what would you put in that corner location?

Ted's is really nice in that they have these bendable 'swizzle sticks' and crayons for kids to color on the paper table covering.  You don't know how much that can make a parents life easier.  Oh, but I hate their 'eco-friendly' straws.

I said it earlier, the first Food Network restaurant concept.  They could have each of the chefs (Bobby Flay, Giada WOOHOO!, etc.) put dishes on the menu.  They could also host their food competitions in a second floor studio instead of Las Vegas like they always do.

I think this would be an awesome concept, idea.  Maybe a Top Chef Kitchen Restaurant.  All the top/favorite dishes of the show can go on the menu with other fillers of course and maybe a teaching studio, etc.  :P

Didn't say there wasn't anyplace, just saying I liked the idea of another place like that.  We've been (with the kiddos) to the majority of the places on your list.

My daughter and her friends, for example, would find it a lot of fun to be right in the middle of the hubbub of the P&L while eating lunch or dinner.  Also, not all kids are the adventurous eaters as ours are - seeing a Uno or OC sign would make a lot of them warmer on the idea.
