Camera feeds are supposed to be available for the command center, but not for the public until the end of the year.

Re: kcscout.net
camera feeds and other real time information should be on the site in late April.

Coolio. I saw a Scout PSA on VH1 on Time Warner Cable tonight... Surprising to see it on TV, and surprising to see them advertising the web site before it's ready to go.KCPowercat wrote:camera feeds and other real time information should be on the site in late April.

Re: kcscout.net
It's up....kind of. Says site only updates M-F 5:30a-8p but the camera feeds are current as of now and the speed indicators keep updating....I bet the incident/accident stuff doesn't get added to at night is what they mean.
Still same color scheme but they did do a better job with navigation....much better than the gatewayguide.com in STL I think, but not nearly like the Atlanta Navigator site.

Thanks for the tip. After so many postponements, I'd given up on checking their site.

Kick ass. It's faster and more responsive than many of the traffic sites I've seen. Definitely better than Gateway Guide, especially the options for choosing what layers of information are displayed. And it works beautifully in Mozilla. ![Applause =D>](./images/smilies/eusa_clap.gif)

Re: kcscout.net
Are there other ways of getting a list of cameras? On the map, they're all jumbled together, so downtown, it's tough to determine camera locations and then click on the right one. If they don't already have it somewhere on the site, it would be great to have a text list of locations that you click on to get the camera feed.

The little map in the lower left corner lets you zoom in on a section of the metro area. At that level it's much easier to see the cameras. Not very intuitive, but at least it's a start.KC0KEK wrote:Are there other ways of getting a list of cameras? That's a really good system. The cameras are clear and the site seems to update fast. All the cameras showed very few cars on the road though. I would question whether KC really needed this considering the light traffic volume. Oddly, this would be great for the LA area but I haven't found any site that shows cameras like that. I do see what appears to be cameras all along freeways though.

I noticed that, too. Maybe traffic is lighter because school is out or because some people stretched the Memorial Day weekend into a full week off. Or maybe it's the perspective from 150 feet up a pole, whereas traffic looks heavier when you're on the road. Weird.DanCa wrote:The cameras showed very few cars on the road though.

Re: kcscout.net
Man I just saw scout work the way it was supposed to. A wreck on 435 by Holmes eastbound this afternoon blocked two lanes. It was first put on Scout at 4:12 pm. At 4:35 the wreck was gone...an ambulance had been there and a wrecker took off at least one of the cars....all lanes were open.
This is how Scout saves time, money and can equal at least one lane of traffic. Before scout I could see that wreck being there for 30-60 minutes and hence starting a backup for evening rush that would have never recovered.
Nice work scout.

Big wreck by the Speedway today...no Scout out there yet. Snarled traffic bad enough on I-70 and the 435 for the Star to post it as a breaking story and such.

Re: kcscout.net
So far the only times I have seen the signs lit they have told me about traffic jams I was already stuck in. It's almost mocking. They localize the notices a little too much, giving you little opportunity to change your route.

Re: kcscout.net
yes I think they need to give more alerts further upstream.
On this particular wreck they did better....the wreck was right about Holmes and they had the sign clear back and mission rd. with the message on it as well as the one at 69 and 135th.
