I'd put money on that. They're already advertising on KC TV even though their only store is in St. Joe.

They do have an urban concept store near downtown St. Paul, MN.  It carries Prada work boots :)

There are two home depots and two lowes within two exits of this location.  Do they really need another home improvement big box?

Well, this thing is going to really be something.  I have seen many bass pros, none of them are in a setting anything like this.  Of course as the area fills with other retail, hotels etc, it will begin to look more like most suburban developments.

that entire area used to be a large forest.  then the outdoor hunting and fishing superstore goes in and destroys it.  nice.

just like all of the rest of KC????

Most of this area will become a city park with nature trails, a fishing lake etc.  It will be a major conservative area, very non typical of suburban development.  That area could have easily been developed into a typical big box development.

I'm no fan of bass pro or what not, but I'm not sure I get what you have against this project if you want nature preserved.

I've heard it was one of the last "untouched" larger parts of Independence / East Jack and that there was some really special habitat there.  I'm sure it'll be a nice area for people to enjoy--it looks really cool from the shot you posted, especially that part near the bridge in your top photo.  I just find some irony in a company that caters to the outdoor enthusiast bulldozing habitat.

I don't get what your saying, the kind of outdoor enthusiast that bass pro caters to goes into the forest and destroys the forest in a different way as well. Killing all the habitat isnt exactly preserving the forest, riding through and tearing the hell out of the ground on your ATV isnt either, erecting your large treestand thats an eyesore isnt either. Now if a large wildlife preserve went in and destroyed a forest for its monstrosity building then I could see the irony... i just dont see it here. What would be truely ironic is a person that is anti tearing down of forests living in a city. How many forests were bulldozed since the 1800's to make the KC metro?
