And for the record, things are not healthy at Majestic. I've heard of a paycheck or two bouncing from a very credible source.KCPowercat wrote: Yeah I was pretty blah about it too....I really thought they would get Ruth Chris to move out of the plaza due to R.C.'s location and market against some of the best (P3, Capital) and the fact that R.C. has been in some other Cordish developments.
I think Majestic and Hereford House (not to mention Morton) will more than hold their own against this place.

I love the Majestics food but why don't they redo their main floor and have jazz there? For top dollar, I shouldn't have to go down in a hole to eat a good steak and hear great jazz.

No question that Kansas Citians rarely are willing to put their necks out for an adventurous location. Not surprised that Haddad or Hereford House have no interest here because it would probably end up hurting existing properties.KCTigerFan wrote: What makes you think the local steakhouse guys wanted to be in the P&L? Everyone just assumes that all local operators are able and willing to open downtown. I think in many instances non-locals believe in downtown KC more than locals do.
Considering the many concepts that Cordish operates itself, I find it hard to believe something couldn't have been organized for an original steak house created by locals bringing something fresh to the table. Kansas City already has a list of upscale steakhouses in the suburbs and in the urban core. I hope this one brings something new to the table because it seems like an experience that is already available in multiple existing establishments.

Any coincidence that the appropriately named POWER and Light District has POWER yet much of the crossroads district immediately after Truman does not? Just left Flying Saucer and everything south of truman up to 18th has no power.

Here are some pictures from inside the door of the peachtree. Phone pics so excuse the quality.
I think it is interesting that the place is carpeted instead of hardwood or at lease some hard surface. I really like the little stage in the corner for the blues/jazz bands. Should be a really neat, intimate enviornment. The streetscape and downtown views from the windows are great. Can't wait to try the place.

Looks pretty nice. I actually like the 'old KC/always been here' kind of interior. It wouldn't be cool if all the places in the P+L were contemporary looking. The wood paneling and brick look authentic.
