people end up buying way more than they normally would, because they can spread the payments out?
same reason why i bought a new TV and all kinds of other shit during a "0% interest" sale at Nebraska Furniture Mart. :x
Van Maur also avoids paying 3% (or more) per transaction to MC/VISA/AMX when their own card is used.
Nebraska Furniture Mart roped me in with a 100$ rebate when I bought a laptop this summer. Of course, the rebate got me back out to the Legends where I proceded to spend considerably more than 100$.
I've had a VM credit card for several years. Another good thing about it is that you can get free gift wrap and free shipping on all domestic shipments.
Their customer service is fantastic also.
I had some bad leadership training today down in this area...I hadn't been down there in I don't know how long...as I drove down 69 and got off on 135th I saw this freaking castle sitting to the left so decided to go check it out at lunch instead of eating bland chicken...and it was Von Maur.
so went in and shopped.....not a bad selection of stuff....obviously geared towards and older demographics but for what they carried and the location, seemed about right. Seemed like a notch below Nordies but not to far behind.
Did buy two things...everybody was so helpful (they were deathly bored) I couldn't help but buy me some Tommy Bahama stuff for summer.

Meh, could have gotten that on the Plaza or at Halls.
Yeah I felt dirty but the stuff was deep discount and I felt so bad for the little sales girl that was so attentive to me.
I'm no P.S. with his obsession of T. Bahama stuff but yeah I would normally be on the plaza...but as they say, when in Joco, drive to a huge sea of parking and waddle into the department store.
I don't get out that way often either. Last I was there, it was just a Von Mauer and a couple little strip mall buildings around the perimeter. But that has been awhile.
My sister's immune system or some sort of doctor like that is located somewhere near there. They were there last Saturday and said not much new development going on other than what has been there for a while.

Construction crews at Corbin Park had been buzzing, building stores for tenants such as J.C. Penney, Sports Authority and Barnes & Noble.
But on Thursday, the south Overland Park site had quieted considerably with bulldozers idle and many crews gone.
Though work was continuing at least on the J.C. Penney site, a general contractor and several subcontractors have shut down, filing more than $10 million in liens against the center in Johnson County District Court.
He picked some good ones but I would say
Olathe Gateway and Plaza Speedway Shops-West.
Corbin Park and Merriam Village-Central.
Adams Dairy and Lees Summit Fair and new Lowe's and Developments in Lee Summit-East
Their's others to but just need to concentrate on some.
The developers have filed for bankruptcy in an effort to prevent foreclosure. Contractors were pressing for foreclosure so they could recoup some of the $20 million they are owed. Supposedly RED has some tenants interested, but nothing can go forward now that construction financing has been pulled.
