the preproduction flykc.com is getting more info. Here is how Economy lot will work 2/28
The Economy Parking experience will change slightly. The lots currently identified as A and C will be combined, as they are adjacent to each other. The shuttle stops in the new lot will be identified as E1 though E17. Blue Buses arrive at shelters approximately every twenty minutes, twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week. Travelers can enter the lot from either the Economy Parking entrance closest to Mexico City Avenue or the entrance closest to Cookingham Drive.

Blue Bus service will transfer customers from Economy Parking to and from the new terminal. The Blue Bus will load and unload from a central location on the commercial curb (arrivals level, follow signs). Departing passengers will use elevators, escalators, or stairs in the new terminal to access airline kiosks, check in counters, and the security screening check point. During times of peak demand, the Economy Parking lot that previously served Terminal B passengers will be used for overflow parking, with Blue Bus service to and from the new terminal.
Rideshare info -
For pickup, please follow the signs down to the Arrivals commercial curb, and look for the purple signposts 2K-N.
No taxi queue line like you see in bigger / cab centric cities like New Orleans and Vegas come to mind. Wish they would just allow some cabs to queue up right at the curb (see map below). I know most don't use cabs in KC anymore though, still would be nice.
Taxi service can be called using your personal phone by dialing 816-243-2345. Make sure that you give the dispatcher your exact location.
Previously posted RideKC info
Buses will pick up and drop off passengers at the lower level for commercial vehicles, including parking shuttles and car rental shuttles. RideKC buses will board at sign post 2A.
* Economy lots staying $7.50
* Garage is $25 a day. (up $2 from current garages)
* Surface lot by garage (new circle) is $18.00 a day (up $2.50 from current). Doesn't say how many spots this is but driving by doesn't look like a ton, could see this filling up quickly.

One nice thing about being dropped off in arrivals is weather protection for all.

Thanks for the info. I typically use Park Air Express, so great to see them listed and looks to be improved as well with a dedicated stop location.

Based on the tours and photos I have seen, everything looks monumentally better for the user experience. I have a direct international flight out in April to Mexico and I'm very excited to try that out in the new terminal.

No one remembers airports unless they're terrible either

I've said this before, but I've traveled a lot in the past year and I couldn't name a single place I've been in.

I think the airport looks great.

Marginally related, but I have noticed since being in Philadelphia that when I need a car I am choosing to use cabs much more often mostly due to consistency of the experience, but also on the weekend here the train to the city runs once an hour which is abysmal. If I just miss the train, I can easily walk over to a sizable taxi rank knowing that a ride from PHL to the city is a set price.

Looking at Chris pictures more in-depth. Just some thoughts

* The toilet icon on the signs seems weird/different but I can't remember what other bathroom signage icons usually are?
* the A corridor (specifically the A14 side seems tight w/o any windows
* Wonder if the lights making the "fountain" look like moving water can be changed (say red for Chiefs super bowl, etc)
* Love the size and font of the signage
* Like how the departure curb is straight, in the MSY airport for example it's a very tight curve and makes it harder to drop people off and move cars IMO.
* wish the ped crossing was raised

A corridor near A14 is pre engineered to be expanded, so could play in to the constricted feel a bit, as it isnt fully fleshed out.

Looked like it was simple LED lighting in the sculpture, so I’d imagine it’s able to change with the seasons.

Ped crossings are raised, and there’s embedded flashing caution lights on each crosswalk

Does anyone know how many spots are in the two current garages compared to the new one?

Old garages had I think 1500-2000 a piece, I’m not entirely sure though, I’ve just seen those numbers floated before

No taxi queue? WTF? People still use cabs even in smaller cities. Especially at airports and train stations. Please tell me people won't have to call a cab still.

I have a feeling the ride share will be a cluster fuck and will overflow and mess other stuff up, but everything about ride share is a cluster fuck everywhere.

Every 20 minutes is way too long for parking and rental car shuttles and if they say 20, that's probably the best. 30 min or longer could be the norm.

Are they really using those little busses with combined economy parking lots with buses running every 20 minutes?

Also, the drop off for official rental car and KCI parking buses should be on the departures curb. I would be annoyed if I had to be dropped off on the arrivals level across the street in the garage at here at BWI. That will add a lot of time and inconvenience.

I like the airport, but not sure about some of the ground transportation logistics.

Also for a new terminal, the general size of all the spaces in the terminal still seem just a tad on the small side. (corridor widths, ceiling heights, etc.) It just seems like it should be about 20-30% more sq footage throughout with slightly higher ceilings throughout. But I know it's a budget project, so I won't complain much about that I guess.

I'll be flying in as a outsider next month using the rental car facility etc. So I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully my concerns will be squashed.

Taxis are dead. I do think more Uber space could be used but with so much standard pick up space it might not be that bad. Also once the people Mover opens that will free a lot of curb space for more uber lanes.

Yeah I think cabs should be sitting there at the curb. They won't be used anyways, everybody uses Ubers now.

Taxis are not dead in all cities and in some cities they are making a comeback. And they work well at airports since they can que up and you just grab the next one. They are still very popular overseas when I travel. I just think it's silly for a major airport to not have at least a small taxi stand. Espeially since trying to consolidate rideshare is going to be a huge cluster fuck IMO.

I travel 1-2 times a week. Taxi lanes at most airports are full but there is no turnover. The drivers are sitting there for extended periods bc there is 0 traffic. 0 traffic in KC, in STL, in Nashville, in most cities. All of the equivalent Uber zones are PACKED and Turned over every 2-3 minutes. Taxi service is already dead and will only wither more over the coming years. Its a mistake we gave them anything at KCI!

Most new facilities consolidate Rideshare and older facilities have added consolidated pick ups. Uber is just soo much more popular I don't see why they should be given equal amounts of space. I would even suggest limiting the size of the limo pickup area. Other cities make this work!

Looks dead to me! There has been some pick up in airport ridership from pandemic lows but airport taxi usage a fraction of 2019.
