Sounds like $1 billion for projects with FFGA in FY2019 or 2020 and $250 million any other FFGA recipients (not yet in revenue service) or projects in project development. I think KC would get funds from that second category.
Stimulus bill passed

Utility crews, barricades and detours are scattered from W. Pershing Road to 51st Street along Main Street in Kansas City. The crews are replacing old water and sewer mains as Phase One of what will eventually become an extended KC Streetcar.

Any chance KC gets some expansions beyond umkc into the engineering and design phases and maybe even shovel ready super fast? The Fed is going to be throwing at lot of money at transit infrastructure in the next few years and cities that have projects ready to go will get some really big grants.

The expansion to the Isle of Capri is the only rail project that could be put up relatively immediately. NKC has a lot of interest in a line but still needs an engineering study and stuff but they seem to be interested in paying for it if the numbers are reasonable. Seems like anything outside of those 2 will require a big lift.

If there is a major infrastructure bill that passes, it would seem to be a good opportunity to get the streetcar across the MO River. The NKC route could serve the same purpose as the original River Market to US segment to provide a spine for future northward extension, though probably quite a bit farther in the future. But still a good chance to get the river crossed with some significant federal assistance!

We really need a regional transit levy to be able to go after some big federal dollars.

Watch the upcoming NKC city council election, not everyone running is transit friendly. One person running wants to remove the bike lanes.

Does CAF offer an upgrade to allow for linked service? As in, the ability to connect 2 vehicles and run them together in revenue service.

The major problem isn't the trains, it's the platform lengths.

If that's all it is than a streetcar line to the stadiums could be designed for 2 or 3 vehicle sets on game day.

By the time we could fund that line one stadium could be under construction downtown and it makes much less since to add rail for 8 games vs 89

If (big if) there was some kind of transit to the stadiums I think it would be along the renewed lease of the sports teams as there is some tax base that could be wrapped up into that - if the teams wanted of course. May not since they make $$ from parking. Sounds like the inclination is for K to go downtown however.

Don't forget that even if baseball moves downtown Jackson County still owns the Rock Island ROW which is intended to host some sort of transit in addition to the trail. That ROW serves the stadium on it's way to Raytown and Lee's Summit.

when baseball moves downtown, the demand for a rail line to Arrowhead alone will not be a very beneficial case study, If it's going to continue east for other uses then sure add a stop but that shouldn't be the end destination IMO.

I think people overestimate the interest of the chiefs and royals in giving up parking revenue, let alone funding it.

The chiefs especially. They already have a full stadium so can't attract more people and for their fan base there is little appeal.

NFL stadiums downtown are dead zones, keep it out there. Baseball with 80 games and smaller footprint and less parking needs is a bit better.

Oh for sure, I don't want the chiefs downtown. I was referring to the chiefs having any interest in helping with rail to the current complex.

Royals are completely different.

Wait, does this mean no matching funds needed (sales tax and property tax in the district) or just that the Fed actually funded their match portion?

For those of you that asked earlier if COVID relief would help reduce the local contribution or debt service -- this is it. It wasn't apparent until very recently. The headline is a little awkward because the project already received its Full Funding Grant Agreement so it was already "fully funded".
