The state has to be smart enough and realize the Royals are alot more important to economic growth. I have no problem with them helping the Chiefs too, but 81 games in a downtown vs. 8 homes games in a field...no brainer. Even they can't be that stupid.
A new stadium could us things like more concerts, The Final 4, etc. Plus the NFL draft will be will be the biggest event in KC history. I would take that over one of the worst franchise in sports.
We can still keep a shitty franchise and still get all of that…

You know if the Royals wanna start getting more people over to their side for a downtown stadium- they need to release renderings.

They’re not doing themselves any favors but trying push for it with nothing. Get the people something to visualize.

They haven’t done any pushing for it publicly lol

Way too early in the process. No announcement of a location yes if there ever is going to be a move.

Everyone is saying they’re aiming to move early and not drag it out. Therefore, they need to be moving along in the process. Maybe they are and they just haven’t shown it yet. Who knows. The only thing we know is they want to go sooner than later.

I just want a location at this point. The speculation is getting old

This is just my opinion, and I very well could be wrong. But I have a hunch the reason the Chiefs/Royals haven't said anything yet is because they want to see what FIFA's decision on the World Cup is.

Why?
-There will be more pressure for the Royals to move by 2026 so that Royals games don't conflict with WC matches
-It'll motivate the Royals to want to showcase their new stadium to part of the country & world
-The Chiefs will get moving to add some of their plans by 2026 too if they know a huge chunk of the country & the globe are coming for a month

Just my guess & opinion.

The World Cup would have no effect on Chiefs/Royals plans. Depending on number of games a city gets is a greater factor of the amount of time dedicated to the Games.
Anyway IMO 2026 is a very long shot especially since I believe the Royals will be taking a serious look at all of their options.

For everyone who has discussed having structures right up against the baseball stadium, or physically a part of it, I present to you a precedent.

Here's a modern example.

Someone on reddit mocked up a rough view of Kauffman in east village. Even without the surrounding development that is likely going to be a part of the initial project looks very neat.

Baseball stadiums are usually oriented east/northeast so the sun doesn't impact play

That can't be to scale.

Just measured, it's about 60% of the actual size.

People have to stop photoshopping Kauffman into a DT context. We’re not getting a 1960s designed stadium in our DT! Sentimentality dies hard.

I'd rather have this than a half assed generic rendering

Totally agree. Get something that blends in seamlessly with urban fabric.

Now this needs to get fast tracked for 2026 after today. Use the window of opportunity that we’ve got right now.

Perfect excuse to say “gee, we need to vote now because of the World Cup making us be out of town all of June!”

Whatever they do, they should keep the fountains & the giant crown scoreboard/Video board. Those are iconic features that must be in the new stadium as well

Expect a completely different location to be announced. Still downtown, but not east village. Things are moving fast.

Different as in 18th and Vine? A new location that previously has not been part of the discussion?

Will it fit grand-oak from 13th to 12th?

Wait what? In the loop or elsewhere?

Does it have anything to do with the WC? Because this is random
