I know.  How hard can it be to get 8 MORE WINS THIS SEASON?  And while they're at it, why don't they just try to win the rest of their games?  I'd be ok with that.

Buster Olney has a feature ESPN.com article on the Royals' turnaround today - unfortunately it is only on the pay side.

Royals been playing .500 since June...blah blah.....Dayton Moore clearing out the old bums....alex gordon showing promise with 500 slugging since June....soria/grinke form good closer duo....meche & bannister good 1/2 starters.....glass spending money finally, team showing promise.

al central tough now tho.

(is that a good guess?)

What it actually says:

Starts out talking about how terrible they were last year (and have been for years) with no ace, no closer, and no shortstop.  Predicts 70-74 wins to finish the season.  Gil Meche is a bonafide ace, Joakim Soria is "among the best Rule 5 picks in the last decade," Greinke throws 98mph and will be a weapon in relief, as a starter, or as a closer.  Pena shows lots of defensive potential but doesn't walk or hit for power and so may not hold the job.  Compare last year's run differential (-214) to this year's (-31) and team ERA of 5.65 last year to 4.46 this year.

Remaining problems: lack of depth in the rotation; lack of consistency from Gordon and Teahen; no regular first baseman (he points out that Royals 1B have combined for 10 homers and 31 walks in 124 games and is merciful enough to say merely that Shealy has had "a rough year"); and the departure of Buddy Bell (this is a problem?).  Mentions that it'll be an uphill struggle against Detroit, Minnesota, and Cleveland, but that the Royals are making progress.  Closes by mentioning Grudzielanek's new contract extension and Moustakas getting started in rookie league soon.

Greinke vs. Sabathia on Friday night. Should be interesting to see if Zack can be effective as a starter this time around.

People near and far are seeing how much things are looking up in the pitching dept.. It's been said a million times, or at least several thousand, that Dayton is doing an amazing job of putting together a nice stable of consistently better pitchers. Very refreshing indeed.

*shameless gloating side note* I got lucky enough to have a buddy of mine invite me to partake in his recent score of 2 tickets for dugout seats for Fridays Sabathia v. Green-kay matchup! It's my first time down there in those sweet seats, so... needless to say, I'm way pumped for their return to the K!  8)

Hoping to see the number 6 scrolling by soon thereafter!
Think ahead.

Well, at least Texas did not score 30 runs in one game on the Royals lately.
I may be right.  I may be wrong.  But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

• The Royals only need 7 more wins to avoid 100 losses. - That could happen BEFORE the Chiefs get their first win of the season!
they got it! :)

Took my son (even though I hate to support anything to do with the Indians an their completely insensitive and offensive logo).

It was a perfect evening, defensive dual that keep my 11 year olds attention the whole game. Bale's performance was outstanding, the other five benefited for outstanding glove work. I am still amazed that tub of lard Sabathia can throw a complete game. Fireworks were outstanding too.

We have tickets for tomorrow night.

I know you're joking.  Good one!

Truly one of the best ballgames a fan could enjoy.  Sat behind the plate and saw incredible pitcihng.  Sabathia and Greinke were going 95-96 and hte hitters had no chance.  In fact, Sabathia went the distance (120 pitches) and was throwing 95 in the bottom of the 8th.  Incredible.

Pro Zack is so talented.  If only we can harness this talent....
