If it ends this close are there run-offs? Recounts?
primary. Looks like Jared is on the outside looking in. I assume they don't do recounts if the top 2 are far and away ahead.

Looks like it's going to be Jolie and Quinton. Latest south of the river is 97% complete.

I gotta think most of the people who voted for Campbell would switch to Bunch going forward?

Is this a high turnout? 17.7% in Jackson Co.

Primary? OMG how did I miss that detail.
Austin Strassle has pulled into 2nd place (4th dist AL) as south of the river tallies

100% voted- Strassle out.

Really my only disappointment of the night is Strassle. Would have liked to see Jared Campbell in too but knew that was a long shot for him and Bunch to get in the top 2.

Quinton or Jolie will make a great mayor IMO. I'm partial to Jolie at this point.

Quinton was my rep for 4 years. He never visited my neighborhood once during his time in office. We had to rely on Reed or even Jolie for help, though she was not in our district. So... yeah. I’m voting for Jolie too.

The Steve Miller vote total was shockingly low considering the number of his yard signs I saw around town. Ditto for Glynn and even Jolley. That 4th District race will be interesting.

Mayor numbers

Justus: 12630
Lucas: 10287
Canady: 7514
Miller: 6800
Wagner: 5044
Taylor: 4875
Glynn: 4358
Reed: 3228
Chastain: 514
Klein: 364
Lee: 204
Write Ins: 100

Wagner and Taylor failed to cross out of their part of town. Wagner did really poorly south of the river but was top in Clay. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes on to work at B&M and later runs for a county commissioner seat

Reed was a non entity outside the east side. In Platte he didn’t break 100 votes and was behind Chastain in Both Clay and Platte.

Edit: oops, bad Jackson numbers

Can’t wait for the Star editorial board to make this election a referendum on Sly James’ administration.

I would think with those numbers, Justus would be the heavy favorite, right?

I know this is over simplified but it works for assumptions based on part of the town

If we do the easy math and send Reed and Canady to Lucas
Miller, Taylor, Glynn and Wagner to Justus

Justus: 33700
Lucas: 21039

I’d call Justus an easy favorite

I was wondering about this too. If she can pull in a chunk of Wagner’s voters she could win Clay comfortably. My sense is that Glynn voters overlapped with hers, and Canaday took votes from her and Lucas. But the Freedom endorsement of Lucas won’t change in this next round.

Does anyone expect June turnout to be better than April or August?

And where do the votes for my good citizens who decided it was worth their vote to pick Lee and Chastain go?

At least we know that this is Chastains last campaign and he won’t ever run for anything again...

Does anyone else have the feeling that Lucas will have his moistened finger to the political wind on every issue? Is there a there, there?

I have heard the same thing from across his district.

For the council write ins tell a lot

1st 132 write in
2nd 40 write in
3rd 31 write in.
4th 56 write in.
5th 60 write in.
6th 150 write in.

1al 508 write in. 85 per.
2al 770 write in. 128 per.
3al 544 write in. 91 per.
4al 389 write in. 65 per
5al 445 write in. 74 per
6al 368 write in. 61 per

Based on the raw numbers Loar and Hall had the greatest percentsge of write ins. Loar reached 1.77% write ins, or 1 in 56 voters. Hall reached 1.36%.

Total mayor votes was 55819. 1.77% in 989 votes. 1.36% is 759.
So in terms of overall votes these two incumbents received more votes against than Chastain received for mayor.

Loar had more write ins against her than five actual candidates each received for them
