Pretty much what everyone else has said.  There really wasn't anything that impressed me at Green Acres.  The footprint is quite small, and like Wild Oats, it struck me as using a disproportionate amount of that footprint to focus on health and wellness stuff vs. high quality food.  Produce, butcher, cheese, deli all were disappointing.  They did have some nice lettuces.

I ask because Green Acres has hooked us up with some excellent catering as a sponsor of the Downtown Neighborhood Association. Sadly, I haven't made a trip up to the store, but in speaking with Shannon, who runs the store, it sounds like they focus pretty seriously on REAL organic/fresh/local stuff, probably a bit to the detriment of their selection. Perhaps this is a point of differentiation that they need to make.

i favor wild oats or whole foods as well b/c i can do one-stop shopping there and can usually knock out several other errands at the same time in the near vicinity.  i might be able to do that up north as well, but going north of the river is like traveling to Mordor for me.

well, theyre owned by WF now but it will be a while before the stores are truly "one and the same."

For those prices, I hope so  - a coca habit might be cheaper than going organic.  Those hippies aren't broke and living out of their vans due to lack of work or motivation - its just what happens after a couple trips to the organic produce aisle at Whole Foods.

i am not a detail-oriented grocery shopper by any means, but i did notice that the produce at Wild Oats seemed to be marginally cheaper or at least comparable and better quality than Cosentino's in Brookside.  random items (such as my beloved Brown Cow yogurt and Campo Lindo eggs) are cheaper at WO as well.  i stock up whenever i am out in JoCo, but i've never been to the Mission location, although it is much closer to my house...

Which location do you go to?  The two items you mention are about my only cause to go in there.  Hy-Vee has Brown Cow too, but more expensive, actually, and rarely the non-flavored.  If you haven't had Brown Cow's maple, do...even if you don't like maple-glazed doughnuts, you're in for a treat.

i go to the WO on 119th sometimes, usually when i need to refill on vitamins/supplements, and i do grocery shopping at that point as well.  i like the Brown Cow Maple yogurt too, although i usually just buy a bunch of vanilla bean.  after eating natural yogurt, Yoplait/Dannon/et al are incredibly disgusting - like eating paint.  sometimes i stop in at the 43rd street location if i just need something specific (e.g. nutrition bars) but i usually just do a $150 Wild Oats run once every six weeks or so.

like i said above, i've never been to the johnson dr location....i usually just plan my errands so that i get a bunch of things done at once out there.  the store looks larger than the mission store does (from the outside) but i don't know if that's true.

Green Acres market is the only place I've found that marks that brand of yogurt down... $1.49 for the jumbo size a couple weeks ago. The markdowns there are pretty huge sometimes.

Of course if too many people start going there they may discontinue this practice... shhh!

this is true, but it could also be b/c the yogurt expired a week ago.  i stopped buying yogurt there b/c it was frequently expired.

Next time you're heading out there, wait, and then go two weeks earlier. The markdown stuff has always been about a week before the sell-by date when I've gone... expired yogurt is probably pretty damn nasty!

One time I bought a bag of peanuts at Sunfresh. Ate one and immediately spat it out - violently and probably hilariously - as I checked the date on the bag. It was over a YEAR past the expiry date. That was the day that I began checking expiry & sell-by dates before throwing things into my cart. Man, I can still taste that thing...

Sad that a trendy "infill" development falls off the radar because it isn't on the bleeding edges of the sprawl. How fickle can the public be?

this is silly. the only reason that place is there is because of barnes and her developer crony. you know that and i know that. both parties live within walking distance of the place. barnes lives right behind the place and garney lives across the hiway. he wanted to develop the land and make lots of money doing it. she wanted to hook him up and have a place close to her house where she could shop at stores she liked. i live a mile away, but they don't have anything there that i would like to be a patron of. i do not know one single person that i know personally that has been there.

rimann's is a quality booze shop. the only reason they are going under at that locale is that they aren't getting the traffic to support them. 

let's see what the place looks like this time next year. i'm thinking it won't be good.

The TIF for the whole Briarcliff Development was approved by the city way before Barnes even considered running for mayor, let alone elected.  Shops were envisioned there as part of the original plan.

This was not a greenfield development.  This area had been mined and if ever a project deserved a TIF this would be one.  What upset me was the granting of the Super TIF for the hotel, under suspicious and rushed circumstances, a TIF was already approved.
