Was thinking the sans thing. Maybe we’ve found a new developer for the Royals EV district.
Let's not get too crazy. We don't even know for sure if this is financed. Plus I'm still not sold on Lux yet. So I'd prefer someone more established for that.

But wow, love to see projects like this in KC!

Fantastic, makes the Lowes tower look like mince meat. The city leadership is trash, I hope they have no (zero) input in this project and keep rheir greedy hands off.

If the hotel is super successful, maybe the company buys and renovates Crown Plaza as an attached wing?

It's rare in KC to see a development that's up to date style wise yet so sensitive to its' neighbors and neighborhood. And from an out of town designer.

As a former employee of this company, who has publicly criticized (and sometimes harshly criticized) LuxLiving, I will say that this represents a positive future for them on the design side if they can keep it up. It’s clear they listened to KCRag users and other social media comments when revising the design. It’s great that they tapped DLR Group as the architect. What they came up with, while a box, is a damn good box so far. I’ll be rooting for this one and hope it happens.

It’s about time someone decided to give Cordish a run for their money in the new downtown high-rise apartment market. Competition is a good thing. We need more of it (and will soon).

Chris, I'll be very happy to have been wrong about the 20 story height and see this happen.

Yeah, I don't get the number of floors, but it's definitely the general height of a 30-34 story building. The taller building looks a few stories taller than the 30 story Hotel next to it.

The floor plans seem to indicate that this is not two separate buildings, but one, and that the hotel element will occupy the lower floors and the apartment the upper floors. Floors 6-14 hotel, floors 14-27 apartment.

According to the article in today's KCBJ, the traffic study submitted was based on the two tower version topping at 20 floors. So glad to see this, instead.

DLR has designed a lot of residential that would be considered a little more futuristic and "look at me" than this. Which might not have been good at this site. They are also designing the proposed 2027 Worlds Fair next to the Mall of America.

"City Council approves Lux Living plan, next step requires developer to line up financing, including likely seeking tax incentives"
-Kevin Collison

The KC city twitter got super excited and went ahead and announced this project to the world too. They must be bullish.

Seemed aggressive given they still need to put financing together. Positive sign

You have to have all of your ducks in a row before you can get financed. Brand, all city approvals, etc.

Guessing by the time it’s all said and done this project will probably be down to 20-24ish floors.
