You could see the arena from the parking spots so its not like they would get lost.

Possibly. My girlfriend has about 1 1/2 feet of bright blonde hair, she'd stick out more than me if you saw her.

Parking for the bars/restaurants near Willies (and all points South) is a bit tough at nite.

That's been my experience.

Its often tight on that block itself - but you can usually find an on-street spot somewhere around the perimeter of the giant Star lot immediately to the south.  If I am headed to that block, I usually drive around the perimeter of that lot first and almost always find something. Just don't park in the lot itself.

Yep - exactly what I did.  Tried to pull in there, NO DICE!  So I parked on the street.  Fortunately a space was open....but it can be tough right there.

Grrrrrr...  Do you know how many people sent me a PM either asking if I knew about it, or if I was the one doing it?    :!:

In the end, there's only one AllThingsKC!

Anyway, back on topic:

One of my coworkers was saying that EASY it was to park for Sprint Center events.  They said, "You know, parking really isn't too bad downtown like I thought it would be."  Hopefully, the image of downtown is changing one happy suburbanite at a time.

The downtown council is putting together a map of parking options that will be open for Thurs. and Fri afternoon Big 12 sessions....this will obviously be the tightest parking will be, so that map should help...I believe it's going to be in Monday's paper.

you would think the ATA would maintain 10-15 minute headways all day during the tournament.

oh, you would think.  But don't count on it.  As someone that has never, repeat, never had excessive difficulty parking downtown for P&L, Lyric, Bartle, etc., I am finally becoming worried that the Big 12 Tourney, and even more so, the confusion on the part of the P&L Garage validations is going to cause more than a few very negative impressions in the next few weeks.

On a side note of sorts, I really wish Grand in front of SC/P&L was lined with 2hr parking spots, metered or not.  It would provide some additional parking as well as a nice pedestrian buffer and sense of activity.
are we spinning free?

Just think, with another 1000 hotel rooms in the loop how many fewer visitors would be walking to the game instead of driving in from the OP Sheraton and looking around for parking spots at the last moment.

Drove though the P&L on my way back from a family thing, guess there was a concert going on...funny thing, open angled parking spots wide open right by the Hotel President.....parking worries?  Please people.

I won't doubt it will be tight for the afternoon big 12 sessions but on a normal night, parking is bountiful.

They haven't started giving parking tickets on evenings and weekends have they?  I was told by a sprint security guard not to park on Oak over the weekend becasue I will get a ticket.  I went ahead and moved just in case, but never saw a parking cop.

Anybody know if they have changed this?
