Find out what's going on in the Sunflower State's portions of the Metro here.

That's a good spot. I guess they'll have to pave Vanteventer now.

Nice addition to the city core.
To bad we didn't build this in the West Bottoms, a very similar development could have happened like the Stl IKEA

Merriam Village lands a Hobby Lobby and an unnamed restaurant.

Mission steals the Wal-Mart (in theory), Merriam steals the Hobby Lobby, and so forth.

You can't blame Hobby Lobby for wanting to be next to Ikea. Are there any incentives or breaks involved? I would imagine this might kill the Shawnee location as well.

Honestly, good riddance. That enormous parking lot is a blight.

Well, I'm sure it was incentivized to lure Ikea, but not sure I have a problem with that. New business to the area and not a greenfield.

You'd rather an enormous parking lot and an empty store? I'm not optimistic that something else will take it's place any time soon.

Give the land to Tom Valenti and watch it take off.

Yeah -- maybe they could have matching vacant lots on either end of Johnson Drive.

KMBC says 2 Restaurants. Also is not new Business because already here now if it was Shopko or Menards or like maybe HHGREGG or gohastings or Gerbes or Kroger or Bealls or Belk or Johnny Mac's or Grander Mountain that would be new.

The first of two giant signs you can see from the Interstate was going up this morning.

It's a pole sign with a rectangle that just says Ikea. And it's not large, it's HUGE for being just 4 letters. There won't be a problem with finding this store from I-35

From the north it's super visible. From the south not as much. You have to be on top of it before you notice it

It was the first thing I saw coming around the corner and I had one of those "Oh WOW!" moments because it's so prominent.
