Re: Noodle places
I've eaten at Lulu's 3 or 4 times and have had bad service and/or food every time. I hear other people say how much they like it so I always say I'll try it again but every time it sucks. I'm done.
Personally, I love Vietnam Cafe and Blue Koi and I'm very interested in Pho 97. Does anyone else have any other recommendations on what to order at Pho 97?
Thanks in advance!

Pho 97 is at Independence Ave. and Prospect. It is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Try the bun with grilled pork and egg roll. The Pho Ga, chicken soup is excellent. And they do the best green papaya salad. For Thai I like Thai 2000 on Shawnee Mission Parkway in Merriam. Not the most glamorous location but very good noodles and curries. Thai House is very, very good. Every noodle dish we've tried has been fantastic, actually everything has been great. They are located at 99th and Holmes, Gomer's Plaza. The only noodle I like at Blue Koi are Ants Climbing a Tree. All of the other ones taste alike, just with different protein. Way too much 5 spice for my tastes. I love their pot stickers. I also love the fact that I live a block and a half and can walk down in the afternoon for some dumplings and a glass of wine. I like most of Bo Lings noodles for Chinese and Malaysian. The one on the Plaza.

Thai 2000 is very underrated and quite good, but Thai Place in Westport is the king of KC Thai food in my opinion.

Re: Noodle places
I'm a big Thai Place fan. Just tried Thai Orchad in Mission, good but not great and the portions were a bit small. I'm going to check out Thai 2000 next, only reason I haven't gone is that it looks pretty dumpy, but I will go based on the recomendation.

Re: Noodle places
Actually the original is in north OP on 87th. They also have locations in South OP, Lees Summit, and downtown. They indeed have some of the best thai food I have had in any city (and I am a freak for thai food) but the bastards seem to manage to raise the price of everything on thier menu at an average of about a dollar a year every year for some time now. Its definitely no longer the bargain that so many asian restaurants are. Their lunch menu is still half way decently priced.KCMax wrote: Thai Place in Westport is the king of KC Thai food in my opinion.

Thai Paradise on Grand is my fave oriental. Willy has been cooking Thai in KC for 30 years, since back when Cantonese Chinese was considered exotic in this town.

Re: Noodle places
Ingredient on the Plaza now does noodle bowls (downtown one does not). They are pretty good (much better than Noodle Co) but pricey.
I like the feel of Lulu's - the place, but they take a lot of shortcuts as most Thai places do.

I'm glad Lulu's isn't moving far. I was afraid they would be moving to Mission Farms or somewhere like that.

Re: Noodle places
I'm not really that impressed with Noodles & Co, but being Chinese and a lover of noodles/spices, I'm always a tough critic. I'll have to try out Ingredient on the Plaza and check their noodle options out and Lulus once it completes their move.

Noodles & Co. is an abomination.

Noodles & Co is pretty bad.
Looked through the thread and saw Red Snapper wasn't mentioned. I enjoy their Pad Thai & Lo Mein.

Re: Noodle places
Do any Japanese or Korean places in town serve actual made from scratch ramen soup?... preferably North of 103rd.
I'd love a token-based ramen-ya joint downtown.

Re: Noodle places
which building is 2030 Central?
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

Good move. I never liked the idea of eating in a shop attached to the probably bug laden architectural salvage warehouse.
