I REFUSE TO ACCEPT that Kansas City is an impossible place for a young single person. You get what you expect.
LOL excellent points. The crowd at First Fridays shows that there are lots of interesting singles out there. We just don't have many opportunities to see them en masse. Dating is like most things in KC... There are good opportunities, but they aren't going to hit you in the face when you walk out the door. You gotta get off your ass and go out and look for it.

Don't be offended by what QueSi says, it is somewhat true. Here I am 24, single, college educated, and I live in KCK. All the young ladies who still live here have kids, never went to college, live at their mom's house, work at the local McDonalds, have no hope for the future, and are looking for a babysitter more than a boyfriend.

This is one of the primary reasons I date very little since I graduated from high school. The worst thing is that because I am from KCK, girls from JOCO think I am like the rest, dumb, uneducated, and with no future, so they don't give me the time of day. Fortunately I have met a few very intelligent ladies while attending Devry, but I think meeting people at school is much better than at some club or bar.

don't tell them you are from WyCo right away.....no reason to give them a reason to judge you....however stupid that reason is.

There are plenty of hotties running around this city. Hell I go out with at least 3 single cuties on almost every weekend.

For those of you that are actually looking to date someone (as opposed to us married folks standing on the sidelines), several of my friends also use match.com or nerve.com, with mixed results.

[quote="MidtownGrrl"]Stellar attitude. I’m so sorry I’m not single and can’t experience this firsthand. No wonder my non-lesbian “college educated, down-to-earth, cute alternative chicâ€

Well, I'm not going to set up any of my friends. I've never had good results with that. Sorry.

I do think we need a mixer/happy hour some time. Has a group on this board ever met up after the library tour?

I agree that Davey's seems to have a nice pickup scene. I was there a couple days ago, to catch the Great Big Sea show, and wound up talking for a while, with a girl from my church that I had always noticed before.

A mixer would be fun, but definitely a little contrived. I think a better idea is just a bar outing sometime, and we can all just get to know each other better in person. Then we can decide whether or not we want to sick each other onto our friends.
