Guest....not at all...there was no final comment that broke the camel's back.......I was just sick of seeing the general direction of that area. I might put it back up soon, I kind of miss it too.

Perhaps it could be featured less prominently so it isn't the first thing that infrequent or new visitors see. If one isn't familiar with the forum conversations, this shouldbox might serve to alienate people right away.

I'd agree that such discussions are more appropriate for a chat. A java applet into the IRC channel as a seperate link would be cool. We can just have a "shoutbox" thread in the forum.

Just my 1.5 cents. :D

/me takes the .5 cents staubio saved on that post and places it in a no-load mutual fund.

I'll miss reading the fascinating quips from KCDEVIN discussing the merits of his mothers macaroni and cheese.

I have no problem with the subject at hand....it was a good old fashion KU/MU fight...I love sports fights...

I'd be willing to join in on a 10 page worth but I just don't like it on the shoutbox where it's the first thing every lurker/visitor sees.....that's the only reason I closed it.

I didn't really think it was as much of a sports rivalry fight as much as it was one persons blind hate for the other state.

I think you made the right decision, KC. Being the pious jerk that I am, let it be known that, on two occassios, two or three parties were instructed to take their fist fight to the 'Bar', but my words were not heeded.

And of course, the straw that broke the camel's back was my pissing match with tk.

It WAS a lot of fun, though.

But, look where it got us.

Bring back the shout box. I liked "chatting" with other forum members instead of just posting.

i concur.  i wonder if there would be less chatty/inane posts (e.g. 90% of my posts) if there were a shoutbox again.

I'm working on it. It doesn't seem willing to play nice with the latest version of SMF. Its surly author has made an updated release for the latest forum version, but when I activate it, it just kind of freaks out. I'll keep plugging.
