Re: Bridgeport Church moving into El Torreon Ballroom
During the Bush era, I wondered where a Christian Left would appear to counter the Christian Right, now that its appeared in the middle of my city, I wish it would go away again.

Just ignoring them also works. As an agnostic, it's what I ask of them when it comes to my religious beliefs.
To point this out again: congregants of these churches - thinking specifically about Redeemer here - tend to bring with them families, money, and a desire to make the city better. It's easy find common ground in civic engagement.

Atheists- No gods. Nope, not one, not many, not all. Zero god, zero gods, none.
Christians are theists, monotheists- Jesus is the Lord.
Agnostics- might be one god, might be zero, might be a pantheon- indifferent.
Yeah, the common cause is a better city.

Not really. I've met agnostic Christians and agnostic atheists. You can determine what you know using empiricism, but that knowledge (or lack thereof) doesn't necessarily imply what you believe to be true. Indeed, most of the Christians I've talked to, when pressed, will admit to being agnostic, as will most atheists. In general, nobody seems to have proof / knowledge either way. It's a matter of believing, or not.WinchesterMysteryHouse wrote:Atheists- No gods. Nope, not one, not many, not all. Zero god, zero gods, none.

Ah. That's why I didn't understand the question. I care so little about this that I never bothered to locate myself on the agnosticism spectrum. Is Agnostic Indifferent a thing?mean wrote:Well...chaglang wrote:Not sure I understand the question.mean wrote:An agnostic what? Just curious.

Re: Bridgeport Church moving into El Torreon Ballroom
So Cowtown Mallroom has reopened as Holy Cow! on the second floor of the Bitterman's Eye Candy building.
Good things appear to be happening nearby at 31st and Cherry. Two buildings across the street from The 816 Bicycle Collective are undergoing renovations.
Apparently, the building on the right will be the future home of The Jarboe Initiative/Maker Village. Check out their Facebook page for some some construction photos/video: https://www.facebook.com/TheJarboeInitiative
The building on the left will be residential on the second floor with retail below. No tenant lined up yet, but they are hoping for a cafe, bodega, or something food related.

Mother of god, it's about damn time someone did something with those buildings. If I only had money I would have done it myself. Biggest steal in the city. Last time I checked those buildings were being sold for around $200,000. That corner building is so awesome and has so much potential. Best of luck people!

The vacancy in this area that still blows my mind is the one on the Ne corner of 31st and Gillham. A bit pricier than the other corner building, but definitely more grand. Last I checked it was selling for a little over a million. God so much could be done with it!

Indifference would tend to pretty clearly suggest a lack of belief. *shrug*chaglang wrote:Is Agnostic Indifferent a thing?
Anyway, I'll respect BFA's desire not to see this content here and this will be my last post on the topic. I'd move these posts to a different thread, but it seems like an awfully minor divergence to bother with all that.

Remember that time akp repeated the exact same question at two different intensity levels? That was awesome.

Is there a link for the "courthouse steps" thing?
