Future conference expansion. Beijing University's football program isn't quite up to BCS standards, but they do add to the conference academically. Kinda like Colorado.

KU hires former Dallas Cowboys coach Dave Campo as DC.

Weis also dismissed six from the team today including promising freshman RB Darrian Miller. QB Jordan Webb has also left the team.

WR Dorial Green-Beckham of Springfield, MO, the #1 recruit in the nation according to Rivals, has chosen Mizzou.

Congrats on the new recruit. Glad I don't have to be concerned with that type of signing anymore.

I guess nobody told him that the move to the SEC was going to hurt Mizzou's recruiting.

I think he was pretty likely to sign with MU based on the current quality of their program and their near future prospects, regardless of their conference affiliation. It would have been a mild embarrassment if they didn't sign him.

The skepticism about MU's recruiting ability in the SEC is that they've sacrificed their ace card in the Texas market and will not be able to make up for it in the established SEC recruiting fields. Signing the relatively slim pickings of back-yard talent is pretty much expected.

I think you're right. But, since his last 2 choices were between Mizzou and Arkansas, I think it's possible the SEC move helped. Not many in-state recruits pick Mizzou over the SEC schools.

That had little to do with mu conference affiliation.

You could be right. It could just be wishful thinking on my part.

I just don't know of many top recruits Mizzou got over SEC schools while in the Big 12.

Those were basically the two closest campuses to home. He gets home games in Columbia, and possibly an away game once in his career in Fayetteville. Had he chosen Arkansas, it would have been the reverse. If he wanted to stay close to home, it would have been a wash. Had MU stayed, he would have had the home games in Columbia plus annual games at OU or OSU, so he may have been happier to have pulled the trigger for Mizzou in that case, but we will never know for sure.

One home state kid doesn't prove out mu will get them in the sec. This is about the program not the conference.

If had picked Arkansas, non-MU fans would have said, "See? Mizzou can't get the top players from their own state." But, since he picked Missouri, non-MU are saying, "Well, he only picked MU because he's from Missouri." Not sure you can have it both ways.

Both MU and Arkansas fans think the SEC was a factor in DGB's decision. Arkansas fans (being overly-negative) think they would have gotten DGB if MU had stayed in the Big 12. Mizzou fans (being overly-positive) think the same. So, it depends on who ask. We don't know for sure, so it's a matter of opinion.

Also, off the top of my head, I don't know of any top in-state recruits Mizzou got over SEC schools. Nor do I know of any #1 recruits Mizzou got while in the Big 12. But, I'm not a recruiting history expert, either. That's why I tend to think that the SEC move helped Mizzou. Or, at the very least, it certainly didn't hurt.
