Panzon's at 87th and Lackman makes the kind of margaritas you like. But they are expensive.

While it's not on the menu, the guy working behind the bar at R Bar has quickly impressed himself on me as one of the finest in town. Every one of 5-6 drinks on his menu have been outstanding.
Bluestem has a really nice signature margarita, with a goat cheese stuffed pepper or some other frou-frou business that actually works beautifully.
I don't really ever order rocks margaritas.
I enjoy the occasional Tex-Mex style frozen margarita, too, often quite poor, but pretty good at the Prairie Village Cactus Grill, which I recently saw is changing to the Jose Peppers concept. Not sure what that means for the margaritas, but I'd guess they're the same.

From what I understand, Panzon's was started by some folks who used to be involved somehow with Ponaks and left to open up a new joint in the burbs pretty much ripping off all the recipies from the 'Nak - including the famous margarita.sandwich wrote: Panzon's at 87th and Lackman makes the kind of margaritas you like. Yeah, I had their margarita straight up; the feta pepper was a nice touch. First real one I have had, and it made that drink on the top of my lists to mix.AJoD wrote: Bluestem has a really nice signature margarita, with a goat cheese stuffed pepper or some other frou-frou business that actually works beautifully.
I already have the Grand Marnier, and the lime juice is easy to make. All that needs to be gotten is a good tequila.
Any recommendations that are on the affordable end of $50?

I've been getting this Aeroplano reposado from Lukas Liquors, a handle for about $30. When the KS Lukas had it, it was only $20/handle. Crazy, and good enough to drink straight. Now it's only left at the MO side one. Not sure where it came from or what the deal on the price is, as I can't find much info on it at all. I'm guessing it was a surplus by an agave co-op that the big brands didn't want to absorb, so it got sloughed off into some weird off-brand. Once its gone, I don't think you'll be seeing it again.

El Jimador Reposado. $29 for a 1.75 "handle" at Costco, when they have it.
