Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
I think it sounds potentially horrid! I'm all for keeping out people that just need a bath, but I'm not so sure I like the idea of a hipsters pool.
Will they wear striped swim shorts?

Can't imagine the collection of slap dicks at that place. Party biceps and high heels and bikinis.geeman68 wrote: It's real! The Jones Ultra Pool. A 22,000 sq ft. rooftop pool, bar, hipster concept operated by Cordish and owned by Mosaic located above Cosentinos. Members get priority while general population can reserve time on weekends. Opens early June. Don't know what the fees are but this should be interesting.

What kind of anti-american are you to not like bikinis?
I am surprised the membership isn't higher but at 700, that should filter out people pretty well.

HEY! Don't make fun of my rotund figure. I can't help it that food and I are like peanut butter and jelly. We just belong. Can't we just all get along?! But seriously. I do think this will be interesting. I do like the name in keeping with the original landmark Jones store that was downtown. Give a new meaning to keeping up with the Jones'. Good god - how much time are the striped shirts going to have to spend in the tanning bed in order to be presentable for laying out at club pool?

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
sounds like a fun concept. it has zero relation to my life, but i am glad it's there.
i wish we had more folks in town trying to create nightlife for the people who aren't into the faux-VIP, wannabe-Euro/Ibiza/Manhattan club experience or the Average Sports Bar set. there are only so many times one can go to Grinders.
i have many good ideas in my head for restaurants and bars. too bad i have no money, connections, or experience.

I can't conceive of ever going to something like this, but I guess it's good that it's in existence for people who would.

Where else would people who live downtown go to hang out at the pool? In the suburbs most of the McMansion gated communities have their own pools. Now downtown has one too. Sounds like a good idea to me and adds another amenity to attract more people to live downtown.

Don't most of the larger condo buildings have pools?SWFan wrote: Where else would people who live downtown go to hang out at the pool? Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
I would never go there, mostly because my building has its own pool, but especially not after reading the email they sent out. I think it was supposed to be some type of marketing to try to get people to want to go there, but it came across as:
"We have almost all of our members already...who will get the VIP treatment, not YOU. We might want you there, but ONLY if you try really hard to become friends with [some person] who is in charge of the VERY SMALL guest list, which you really have no hope of ever getting on because we're SO FABULOUS. Maybe if you show up really early, you might have a shot of getting in. But probably not."
My downtown friends and I were having fun with that email yesterday. I'm not sure who they have in charge of marketing, but it didn't exactly make anyone I know eager to go check it out.

My group had a great time...very cool idea added to downtown. Feels very urban with the buildings surrounding the pool. Huge bar. Can't wait to go back (and I have access to a couple pools). I will post some pics later.

Isn't charging higher fees for men illegal gender discrimination?

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
nice concept. hopefully enough people sign up.
looking at the pictures it seems like the turnout was kind of low.

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
yeah, people look shy! Not that just using the pool as a backdrop is that bad, works at the Tiki Room in SF!
