Hotel tax drivel...

Come here to talk about topics that are not related to development, or even Kansas City.

The good old days.  Looking back there are some very good memories.  Yes, over a period of time there has been progress but progress does not always mean better.

A farmer, or farmers, driving through the neighborhood selling their produce - and no sales tax to worry about.
Looking for the ice cream truck especially since most freezers in the frig were just big enough for a few ice trays and not much more.
Fresh milk and other milk products at your door every morning.
Kids playing outside, and even traveling a few blocks at five years old.
Running through the lawn sprinkler on hot days.
Watching the coal truck make a delivery and watching your father feed the coal into the furnace - I still have the coal shovel.
Captain Kangaroo in the morning.  And even Romper Room.
Putting rocks on the railroad tracks and watching the trains roll by in my cousin's back yard.
Playing in a treehouse.
And many more items and that is not even in a small town.  Just blocks away for dt KCK.  Don't even recognize the old neighborhood now, even the douplex is torn down and replaced by a commercial building.
I may be right.  I may be wrong.  But there is a lot of gray area in-between.
