The other thing I detest about many modern houses is that the garage doors and concrete driveways are the primary focus of the house, and design element, facing the street, The house entrance is often set back further on the lot, like it's secondary.  Sometimes you can't even see the front door.  I wonder what the feng shui people would say about that?

The effect is like seeing the back of  the house from the alley.

You should work yourself out a deal like I have. I get free legal services in return for being a designated driver for a bunch of lawyer drunkards I know.

My daughter in law graduated from architectural school (Ball State) did a 5 year program and interned for a year in England  and worked in an architectural firm for a couple of years before a company spirited her away. But she can still design. Free there too.

Hubby is a licensed electrician, a couple of sons are engineers. Lots of free stuff in our life.
