I know both teams have tougher schedules, but why do you say that?jlbomega wrote: No way both teams are in the top five going into that game this year.

Re: Big 12 Football
Only the most die hard KU and MU fan would expect both to face each other while in the top five, probably ever again. I mean, that would make up 40% of the top 5! And its pretty easy to see that, while Mizzou has a chance, (and outside of a few schools such as Florida, Ohio State, USC, etc, nobody goes into the season expecting to be ranked that high toward the end), KU will be lucky to sniff the top ten before they start to drop.

Re: Big 12 Football
I doubt even Michigan and Ohio State have played eachother back to back years when both were in the top 5. Kansas played only two teams last year that anyone would consider decent, they went 1-1. This year they will most likely play four top 25 teams in the regular season alone (maybe five is USF continues to rise). Even if Kansas is better this year than last, they could have a worse record.AllThingsKC wrote: I know both teams have tougher schedules, but why do you say that?

Re: Big 12 Football
Kind of disappointing that it only got picked up by FSN. It got the highest ratings of any regular season game last year - would have liked to see it on network again. I guess it takes time to change perceptions.

Re: Big 12 Football
can't that game be bought by ABC/ESPN if its huge again? And the time changed? Not that it will be a big game like last year but isn't it still possible?

Anyone catch Gary Pinkel's comments in the KC Star this morning?
“They spent themselves so much on that Kansas game. To beat a team like Oklahoma, you have to play at the highest energy level. I didn’t think we did.”

yeah... and we won. The problem with the OU game was all the MU players that seemed to feel like we handed them the game in Norman. I think we went into that game with the wrong attitude and it had nothing to do with Kansas.Maitre D wrote: Anyone catch Gary Pinkel's comments in the KC Star this morning?

Re: Big 12 Football
actually i think the problem with the ou game was that they were a lot better than missouri in the trenches (where it counts the most). that and stoops actually had his team playing up for the game, unlike the eggs his teams laid in the past two bowl games. missouri matched their talent last year on the perimieter, but the o-line couldn't hold back ou's d-line and missouri's defense couldn't put much pressure on bradford.
i'm sure there was also a little letdown from such an emotional and huge game the week before, along with the high of being ranked #1. live and learn, we'll see if they come out ready to go in the title game this year if they make it.

Re: Big 12 Football
Turned out to be the best thing to happen for KU though. Not only did we help ruin your chances next week vs OU (as per Pinkie's comments) - we also "stole" the Orange Bowl by not having to lose to Okla.jlbomega wrote: They did give it their best shot, it just wasn't enough.
Proverbial, killing 2 birds with one Lew, kinda deal.

Doesn't change the fact that Mizzou football is better than Kansas football.Maitre D wrote: Turned out to be the best thing to happen for KU though. Not only did we help ruin your chances next week vs OU (as per Pinkie's comments) - we also "stole" the Orange Bowl by not having to lose to Okla.

Since you're in the corner wanting attention, I'll post something about that team nobody talks about any more - yours:

Re: Big 12 Football
md thinks the best thing happened to ku when ku blew a chance to play for the big 12 title and national championship because mu went on to lose to ou?
wow, now that is a fan that really cares more about the other team losing than their own team winning. sad and bitter.
so bandwagon ku fans, what section is your newly obtained football season tickets next year...get good ones I hope.

Now back to my article:
Quote
Tim Tibesar spoke at the Nebraskans for K-State Catbackers dinner in Lincoln. He stated that when Prince took over the football program, 56 players were on "academic warning", about to be suspended from the team due to grades and academic progress. At this point in time, there are fewer than 10 players on academic warning.
I thought the initial number seemed high (maybe he mispoke or I mis-heard), but it explains why players like Deon Murphy are being held out of spring practice. Academics are obviously a top priority to Prince.

Re: Big 12 Football
using ksufans.com forum as any kind of source shows the level you will dig to try and find some sort of negative ksu item. I guess I am embarassed 10 players are struggling with grades? not sure what you are getting out of that article.
now...you really think the "best thing happened to ku" (your words)? ku had a chance to play for a b12 title and a MNC but the best thing happened losing to your rival which erased those chances? you really need to watch more college football.
