Re: Bond Bridge (formerly Paseo)
To build the bridge further east would have entailed rebuilding much more of the approach structures than is being done. Hope they got the foundations deep enough. Recent report said the river bed continues to drop and scour away, maybe threatening bridge structures.

Re: Bond Bridge (formerly Paseo)
The legs are now clearly visible from the northbound right lane crossing the Paseo Bridge. I do have a question about the design. The 2 legs splay out not very much above the water line. I have noticed on other bridge piers, the concrete continues much above normal flood stage before there is any structure branching off. At that there is often huge clumps of debris and trees caught on the piers. Won't this structure catch tons of debris in the "crotch" in flood stage like crabs on the crotch of a Indepence Blvd crack whore?

Looks like temporary supports installed for the cross piece that braces the legs together and supports the road deck.

East leg of tower almost at height of Paseo Bridge towers. Will the legs be self supporting until they reach the top or will a temporary brace be needed (like the Gateway Arch)?

Was money allocated to demolish the Paseo Bridge when the new bridge is complete?

Re: Bond Bridge (formerly Paseo)
I guess it is easiest to maintain just being an exposed concrete structure...but I wish they were cladding this in ceramic tiles or something to give it a little something extra. These types of bridges are becoming so common. It would look so cool clad in something shiny. I guess with the expansion/contraction something like ceramic tile would be a nightmare though.

How many bridges in this state are named for this guy? The new MO river bridge in Hermann is also named the Christopher S. Bond bridge!
