Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
Also, just based on a quick google flights, the PIT to LHR flights are about comparable to stops with connections. Tickets are a reasonable $600-700 for coach on a 787.

Southwest opens their schedule into July next week. We will see if we get some new flights with the new terminal.

FWIW- Justin Meyer said that’s not the date. At least it isn’t official.

He says date announcement won't be official for a few more months...uhhh are they gonna announce it the week of? We don't have months left on this.dev49 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 10:35 pmFWIW- Justin Meyer said that’s not the date. At least it isn’t official.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
I don't blame them for not announcing a date. You're gonna be able to fly every single day, so it's really just up to the operations teams to make the transition seamless. Sure people will want to just see the terminal, but as with everywhere else in the US you can't get very far into a terminal without a ticket so I guess you can see the parking garage and ticketing hall?

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
Would be fun if there was a way to let open it all up and let people come see it the weekend before it opens or something. But I’m guessing that might still pose security risks.DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 12:31 pm I don't blame them for not announcing a date. Some US airports do not require an airline ticket for entry. TSA still required.

The oldest trick in the book is to buy a refundable ticket for late in the day, and refund it after you've done your airside business. Even checked in, the airline will still refund (but be sure to leave at least an hour before departure, before the flight you want refunded goes under "gate control.")normalthings wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 11:25 am Some US airports do not require an airline ticket for entry. BTW, Delta no longer allows pax on flights >3 hours from time of entry into the SkyClub. So keep that in mind if you want to check out the new SkyClub on the roof of the outer concourse. Of course, the flight must be a Delta flight plus you need access credentials (Platinum Amex, SkyClub membership, etc.) to enter.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
Lots of frequency increase also:
Looking at Fridays
MCI-MDW up to 8x (7x pre-covid June)
MCI-PHX up to 5x (3x pre-covid June)
MCI-LAX up to 3x (2x pre-covid June)
MCI-SAN back up to 2x (1x pre-covid June)
MCI-ABQ will be 0.85x (daily service minus Saturdays)
Per KCMO Twitter:
Breaking: @SouthwestAir adds nonstop service from Kansas City! Effective 4/2023 Albuquerque and Indianapolis will be restored (COVID), and frequencies will be added to Atlanta, Los Angeles,
San Diego and St. Louis. Effective 6/2023 frequencies to Las Vegas, Orlando and Pensacola.

Nice. I guess no additional flights to DCA or BWI?

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
Went thru the flights for June
Friday 67
Saturday 55
Sunday 71
Still down 6.9% from precovid but getting closer
Things I noticed (besides the already mentioned things in the airport tweet)
No Destin or Sarasota (all ran last summer)
LAX is weird with 3 on weekdays but only 1 on Sunday
Denver up to 7x a day
MDW at 8x during the week
PHX 5x
San Antonio and Raleigh Sunday only
If people really want it I can post every station numbers but I don't want to put in a big post unless people are interested.

No NFL Draft additions yet. Hope to see some announced in the next 3 months or so. Ticket prices from the nearest hubs on SWA were pretty standard still.

Speculation in another forum:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british ... ation.html
IND appears to have the odds if posts were wagers, but MCI gets lots of mentions also.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
Indy doesn't make much sense to me for a direct flight to London via British Airways. Indy has Chicago (3 hours), Detroit (4 hours) and Nashville (4 hours) whereas Kansas City has to go to Chicago (7.5 hours) or Denver (8 hours) to catch a similar direct flight.
So if I were choosing strictly based on what market is underserved by such a flight, I'd pick Kansas City over Indy any day. Additionally, setting up another direct flight to London from Indy will likely eat into the route market from those other airports.
In the end though, I'd be shocked if British Airways chooses Kansas City. We can always get AirFrance or something to get us to Paris, which you can then connect to the whole of Europe, including London, thanks to high-speed rail, but I prefer London more than Paris.

I doubt it is MCI. I believe Justin Meyer was on the record in saying 2024 for any TATL service. IND is my guessnormalthings wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 1:34 am British Airways expected to announce a new US destination in November
