KU had something like the 8th youngest team in D1 last season in basketball...and won the Big 12 title outright. And we lost, barely, to the eventual national runner up in the sweet 16. Hard to argue that MU had a better season than KU, just because they finished 2 spots ahead in the final poll, and went one round further in the tourney.jlbomega wrote: Well we finished higher in the standings in basketball and in football... so yes we had a better season than you did on both occasions. Only dipshit KU fans say otherwise (since everyone with an opinion that matters voted us ahead of you on both occasions in the polls).
Beaker logic amazes me when the numbers just don't add up in their favor. I guess it has to do with the education they received.

Further in the ncaa, higher in the polls, won the conference tournament...sounds like a better season, your desire to qualify ku as a younger team hints that you believe so too or you wouldn't have to add that.

I'll still take the conference title over the conf. tourney. And there's no real difference between getting blown out by UCONN in the Elite 8 and barely losing to the eventual runner up in the Sweet 16. If MU fans want to puff their chests though about this season, I don't really care anymore. We all know who the consensus preseason #1 team is in the nation right now.KCPowercat wrote: Further in the ncaa, higher in the polls, won the conference tournament...sounds like a better season, your desire to qualify ku as a younger team hints that you believe so too or you wouldn't have to add that.

As much as you want to validate your seasons and pine for mu to give ku some props, seems like you would return the favor when they had a good year.
If u are judging seaons, seems like by most metrics, they had a better year...guess metrics don't hold any weight over warm fuzzy feelings about losing to MSU with a 'young team'.
Preseaons #1 in spril. Now there is a feather in your cap.

There aren't ku fans on here asking things like 'say one nice thing about ku' to mu fans and having two year debates about who had a good season?

Seems like someone is really, really sore about Wally Judge's one and done year in Manhattan looking more and more likely to just be an ignored and forgotten footnote behind a couple really, really good teams in KU and UT and a promissing OU. Powercat, if the Cats finish 4-6 this year, with this much anticipated recruiting class, will the powercat faithful come to the realization that this is as far as Furious Frank will ever get you and send him packing?

Welcome to the sports forum. Six guys arguing about KU/MU (sorry - no KSU) does not mean anyone is seeking validation. We're just killing time between seasons. Like KSU does between women's basketball and..... help me out here..... what else are they good at?KCPowercat wrote: There aren't ku fans on here asking things like 'say one nice thing about ku' to mu fans and having two year debates about who had a good season?

So you will be satisfied for the foreseeable future with a one and done star every few years and not enough supporting talent to ever really make any serious challenge?KCPowercat wrote: Bringing in AA talent and finishing 4th? No.

I am? Are you seeing some signs that Frank is building stability into the program and collecting the depth it will take for the team toconsistently challenge at the next level of success rather than just collecting the ocassional big time star that will put up 40 points in losing efforts?KCPowercat wrote: You are reaching.

Doesn't matter. Preseason polls do not get you anything or anywhere. All that they are are worthless items that give sportswriters something to do during the offseason. In the past how many preseason #1's actually finished the season #1 in the nation? More likely being #1 in the preseason is a curse rather than a blessing.kcmetro wrote: We all know who the consensus preseason #1 team is in the nation right now.
I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

You picked a really good season to come off of with this "point" . . .aknowledgeableperson wrote: Doesn't matter. Preseason polls do not get you anything or anywhere. You're kidding!! I thought the preseason #1 ranking meant they automatically award them with the title, regardless of what happens on the court. Fuck!!!aknowledgeableperson wrote: Doesn't matter. Metro, with the way you have been pimping that preseaon ranking, I thought you did believe that, so I understand AKP's confusion.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Nobody is saying KU had a bad year by any means, in fact they had a great year... but we made it further when it counts (in March) and finished higher in the polls. Mizzou had the relatively better year than Kansas and everyone knows it (except Kansas fans).kcmetro wrote: KU had something like the 8th youngest team in D1 last season in basketball...and won the Big 12 title outright. Of course they are not going to return the favor. Do you see many Nebraska football fans out patting Mizzou on the back for dominating the North the past few seasons? No. All they do is talk about how "next year" they will be back on top and "order will be restored."KCPowercat wrote: As much as you want to validate your seasons and pine for mu to give ku some props, seems like you would return the favor when they had a good year.
Now lets look at the Kansas fans on this board. They want to pretend that last year didn't even happen and move on to next year. All they can talk about is Xavier Henry, preseason #1, and how it will not even be fair next year for a season that doesn't even start for nearly seven months! The parallels are amazing...
Preseason polls in football are very meaningful. If you do not start out in the top 10 or 15 your chances at a National Title are virtually zero regardless of what you do on the field. On the other hand, preseason polls in basketball are pretty much meaningless. So much can happen during a college basketball season with all of the games and tournaments.aknowledgeableperson wrote: Doesn't matter. Preseason polls do not get you anything or anywhere. Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Well they're #1 for good reason. You bring back 2 probably 1st team AA's in Collins and Aldrich, and add a top 5 recruit in Henry, and bring back a great supporting cast of experienced players...that's a recipe for a great team.KCPowercat wrote: Metro, with the way you have been pimping that preseaon ranking, I thought you did believe that, so I understand AKP's confusion.
