Movement on ped/bike Grand bridge

MoDOT is in process of conveying excess ROW to Port KC that directly abuts the KC Current Stadium site. Approximately 1.75 acres was sold to Port KC by MoDOT. Port KC is filing this application in order to incorporate the additional land into the Berkley Riverfront MPD boundary.

Checked in on this and the compass page now says
Approved!

Might be a good thing to suggest to Jon Stephens at Port KC, I love that idea though, and provides a fun engagement compared to a bench!

Great idea. Just need to make sure they are over built.

Dallas included some nice looking swings in a park they built a couple years ago across the street from me. They made it maybe 8 weeks before they were broken by people.

I'm on board with the swings.

I was working in Cincinnati over the summer and loved the activation and liveliness the park offered to those living and visiting. I spent lots of time at the park as it truly was a great outdoor space. I sent pictures/ideas from Smale to Jon and PortKC... I never heard back. Ours really should be more than just a large sidewalk (not counting the gym/courts) that offers people open spaces to relax and enjoy being outside.

I won't say that more can't be done, but I was walking on the path/trail at the park this past Sunday and was surprised by the number of people using it. When I lived downtown years ago, I would only see a handful of people using it (most of the time). Still, last Sunday, I saw joggers, people walking their dog(s), playing volleyball, using the picnic tables, or using a blanket for a picnic near the river; I saw bike riders, skateboarders, people roller skating, playing frisbee, or doing what I was doing and just walking.

I felt like I was transported to another city. It was so different. In the past, I could park in the little parking lot, and now I was lucky to find a spot, and there was a lot more parking available now versus in the past. What continued to floor me was the number of people using the path under the tracks to the other side leading to the bridge that goes into the River Market (I don't recall the name). Back then, if I saw more than one or maybe two people, it would have felt strange (there was usually no one on that side of the trail). Now, it was night and day in the number of people taking that path/trail to the bridge or vice versa.

This may not be news for people who go there often or live nearby, but as I said, I have not been there for years.

Lastly, the only event I saw going on was at Bar K. Other than that; it was just people enjoying a day at the park. I loved seeing the activity.

I saw this while on Google. The riverfront needs something like this. Could double as pet watering stations.

I will echo Pork Chop's sentiments. For the last 20 years and until just a few years ago, that was my own private park with rarely more than a handful of visitors. Careful what you wish for!

And yes, Fang, the park needs some more very basic amenities. There is one water fountain, which is rarely working. There aren't nearly enough trash cans. And there are never bags in the dog poop bag dispensers. It has been this way since they were installed. If you want to keep the park clean, give lazy people enough trash cans so that it's easier to walk a short distance than to throw your trash on the ground and provide poop bags in the dispensers. These are both minuscule expenses that I'm certain the Port Authority can afford.

The KC Current released more renderings of the stadium and its Pitch Club, a premium lounge equipped with a bar and restaurant.

The design draws inspiration from 1920s art-deco architecture, and the bar features craft cocktails, and a rotating food menu by Megan and Colby Garrelts of @rye_kc.
