Operationally, it could start any day. The real issue is the delta in the city budget. We will start after the amount is made full, hopefully with the private sector's help.

Ah, so BCBS help isn't enough?

Nope. They publicly pledged $1M. The city's budget contains $4.8M. The cost is $8M for KCMO routes only ($12M for the region).

Ridership in the Prospect corridor was up 20% right before COVID-19. Some local routes are now serving the future East Village Transit Center on a new two-way stretch of 12th and Charlotte streets starting today:

Note the new two-way cycle track segment in this stretch on 12th (hopefully it will be extended in both directions if the bike plan ever gets approved):

Dave, how do we go about getting the MAX lines added to Apple Maps ala Streetcar? Other cities such as Cleveland have their BRT lines uploaded to the Transit map.

All of our schedules are available on Apple Maps and Google Maps if you plan a trip with the transit mode. Apple Maps usually only shows rail or "serious" BRT as default lines on the map.

One of the last bits of Prospect MAX: An assisted wayfinding system that will help visually impaired customers navigate safely to and from bus stops and crossing intersections to connect to other routes. Installers are placing Bluetooth beacons on bus stops this week.

Great job on Prospect Max! Dave you have outdone yourself. I love the new stations. Will Troost MAX be upgraded to the same standard?

When it reaches the end of its "useful life", which should be opening day + 10-12 years. I guess that's coming up soon!

10 years this year! Is something in the works already? Would it require a second federal grant?

Prospect MAX eclipses streetcar as the highest ridership route in the region.

Dave already hit on this months ago, but KCUR just posted a story on this development.

There's a development tracker here:
https://ridekc.org/planning/prospect-max
The central city sales tax has been doing a good job attracting small scale development without displacement. Too soon to say whether the Urban America project at 63rd will actually happen given the history of that site, but its proximity to Research's campus and the development march east on 63rd are both plusses.

^Hopefully UrbanAmerica can pull off the 63rd project. Am not finding that they have carried through with much of anything.

If this pans out this will be big for the corridor and could serve as a model for the rest of the city, particularly along major transit lines.
