Sorry... they knew full well about the P&L when the decided to open up. Anyone opening since 2004 knew what was coming. I'd accept that reasoning if it were Bulldog or Fred P. Ott's or Stables but not from a relative newcomer.
There are other long time local bars that are doing just fine. Some have even seen an increase in business since the P&L opened.

Paying $5.50 for a pint of Fat Tire or Blue Moon for example is just not reasonable to me.
absolutely.
i remember when blue moon first came out and i was buying it down at red x for $2 a six. that was also around the same time that i cleaned them out of heinekin tarwebok. i think i bought around 30 cases for about $5 a case.
beer tip: if you go to red x and see that they are trying to get rid of the last of a beer, haggle with them. they will cut you a deal on almost anything they aren't selling.
Why is corporate welfare better than public socialism?
I think the Cashew could still stick around awhile..they have the upstairs and event space..it also has the open front patios..Corner locations are always good.

We tried Oquig's for lunch. Sign on the door said they closed as of June 3rd. The owner (or whoever it was that came off as the owner) came to the door and blamed the P&L and the city for allowing the P&L...."They didn't think of the small guys"

I agree. I thought I read somewhere on hear that they were trying to reap the rewards of the new attractions downtown back when they first opened.
I'm not to upset because some of my co-workers got a little to excited about their menu. I'll never have to go there again. Not that it's bad, I'd just rather do something other than Burger and Fries when I spend $10 + on lunch. Kind of boring...

When I drive by the Cashew after work every night they are still pretty busy. Friday and Saturday nights there are several people there too. If they were cheaper, I would frequent it more often
Sources say O'Quigleys ownership is opening a place in west JoCo.....this had nothing to do with P&L. Blame it anyways though, it's the hip thing to do.
Seems ironic that they would be done in by the smoking ban - with the nice patio that space has, I would have thought they would have been better placed to capitalize on that market than most.
It sucks for me because now there's nothing left but convenience store sandwiches and fast food chains available as quick lunch options around my building.

yeah, i would think that a dozen new places opening a couple of blocks away had a bit more to do with it than the smoking ban.
also, fred p. ott's isn't very good.
Yeah - I never went there much but I would have to think that a fair chunk of their business was office happy hour - they were the only bar of that sort in the heart of the office buildings for so long. No shortage of happy hour choices for those folks nowadays . . .
