Not until projects start getting approved or council seats flip. Why keep dumping money into projects that won’t get approved?freedog wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 1:59 pmHave to imagine at least a couple proposals need to make it through the council before it is reintroducedAlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 1:44 pmAgreed. Based on the sidewalks shown in the diagram, I think you can discern that the location is even with the 2 streets named Berkely Plaza. I think the two rocks in this photo are in the diagram as well. Here's a Streetview.

So it's further east than originally laid out? Nice. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, initial change of stop location came after the current stadium announcement I believe.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 9:12 pm So it's further east than originally laid out? Nice. Thanks for sharing.

Is the stop going to be super huge? It dwarfs the park in this drawing

I guess I'd like to have the stop a few feet west and not remove the park feature? It also could be moved south along the roadway and displace the head-in parking. After all, isn't that the point?

I also was thinking the same. Why such an effort to retain the parking?

As designed, the streetcar removes parkland to keep parking spaces. Not an acceptable trade.

Yeah good points not liking this at all. Also do we need a super stop when there is a good chance going east to isle of Capri ?

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
I think this looks great, happy the stop was moved east a bit. It will be central to both the park and both existing and future development that fronts the park. Union already has retail space facing this spot and it's easy to imagine future development to the east featuring similar. Could become a nice central focal point for the whole area.
I understand the theoretical issues "trading parkland for parking spaces" but there is plenty of green space here; the existing pergola feature looks a bit tired and with any luck could be replaced with another attractive park feature or public art along with the streetcar stop. Some amount of street parking is/will be necessary to service the park and (hopefully) retail surrounding it.

It could be because our leadership is more concerned with career politics so they listen to the citizens, which in theory is exactly what they should do. However, when you are a city with slow minded individuals who have no concept of urban living you basically make a bunch of stupid decisions and call it democracy lol.

I think using some of the non-developed green space (its not a park) for the purpose of dedicated transit is a great use.
I believe stormwater and other utilities are below the roadway making it less attractive also.
Some amount of street parking is needed for visitors to the area.

Think so yes. July 4th and Stadium crowds will all use this stop.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:01 am Also do we need a super stop when there is a good chance going east to isle of Capri ?

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
It's probably not that big of an incremental cost so no biggie, can't hurt I guess. It's straight through so can easily go east.
