Cincinnati and STL are locked in with Delta and Lufthansa. BA is already trying to grab slots for IND. KC and Cleveland are left looking for Europe service.
Not sure about Cleveland but KC lacks the incentives STL and IND bring to the table.

Man, I'm just not a huge fan of narrow body flights that long. I don't think any legacy carrier would cheapen their brand like that either. Would have to be a discount carrier.

I'm still on the wildly overly hopeful Delta/AF/KLM bandwagon.

And yeah, KC would need some incentives because that average ticket price is...not great.

KC-Dublin is well within the range of an A321XLR.
Aer Lingus would not be bad

I think it’s a misprint and they meant 737 MAX since the 787 MAX isn’t a thing. Guessing they are referring to option of getting Iceland back.

I don't love the headline, "Kansas City presses on with new terminal," but I've also written and edited headlines for trade publications like that in the past and know how tough it can be to come up with another headline saying essentially the same thing 20 times over.

KC has a bigger catchment area for service than all/most of those cities.

Sure, but that wouldn't provide the class of service most businesses expect. Tbh, the four hubs that people care about are London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt. Maybe throw Madrid in there and Milan. You should be able to reach any place in Europe from those airports.

The rest don't really count.

Sure but it would give a lie flat business class and prove the market. Incremental steps towards a major carrier to one of those 4 cities

Dublin is making a pretty heavy move to fix their airport IOT become a more viable connection hub, so it definitely could become a productive and well connected route in 10-20 years.

Dublin is within the EU and lacks the slot restrictions that London, Paris, and Amsterdam have. Its really not a bad option for KC travelers. Being able to clear customs in Dublin is also nice

I agree, at least from experience to Dublin & Dublin to Rome a week later, in 2017. Nice airport (with glass jetways I think) and easy customs.

Flew to and from Dublin last month. Can confirm the easy customs piece, even post Covid. Nice airport

Their biggest win will be once they open their northern runway, It’ll make the efficiency of the airport that much more pronounced. US connections, namely long skinny routes from the likes of Aer Lingus & partners (American, Alaskan, Jet Blue, United) become not only viable, but practical.

It’s currently on an e75. Not super familiar with Americans offerings, but typically means more seats and higher class options.

It is one of the 3 frequencies, the other 2 are still E175s. Actually has less first class which seems backwards. But it’s a bigger plane. Economy is 3x3 seating instead of 2x2. Holds about 50 more people. Actually flown by American, not a regional partner.
