Across Bruce Watkins Drive to the northeast, I noticed that the old house that was on that isolated island of land between Bruce Watkins, Paseo, and E. 22nd Street has been demolished.

I assume it was removed so development of that area can begin.

I also noticed a lot of dirt was being moved on many other parcels in the overall area--especially south of Beacon Hill Lane and north of 27th Street between Troost and Tracy. It looked like more lots were being prepared on Forest Avenue especially.

The new apartment buildings on 27th are mostly bricked-up. Workers were out there yesterday working.

I know there have been some whispers of a hotel project on Beacon Hill for a while, but John Hoffman confirmed he is working on a new hotel at 24th and Troost.

Seems like an odd location to me, but perhaps there is a built in market tied to Hospital Hill.

I'm glad to see Hoffman's commitment to the Troost corridor. In another quote from the article, he said: “If we can develop Troost, we can develop the whole east side.” I know Hoffman has his fair share of critics and even enemies, but I think the city could use a few more developers like him.

It would have decent highway visibility and access via Campbell or Tracy from 22nd.

On another note, whomever owns this house is letting all the landscaping die. I drove by there today, and noticed that several of the bushes, and one of the trees planted, are already distressed-looking, or dying.

I don't understand why they don't just build 1000 more things just like that everywhere.
