A few renderings:
Re: New Convention Hotel
That last photo makes it look like they are re-doing the bridge over the interstate (however maybe I'm thinking of it wrong).
I was told by someone working on this project that this isn't quite the final design, but will be very similar to it.

I agree with your assessment about the reconstruction or modification of the 670 overpass. The POV of that rendering is the NE corner of Baltimore and WB Truman.

Re: New Convention Hotel
Wonder where the office in that block would go?
Also notice the renderings leave out the hotel across the street

Correction, any changes to the bridge are not part of this project.

I was overly excited about this when I saw that rendering from the north and the overhead....mykn wrote:Correction, any changes to the bridge are not part of this project.

This looks pretty good. Great location- bridging Xroads, the loop and the convention center. Added bonus that its on that hill making it look taller.

Re: New Convention Hotel
Notice how this is across the street from the large arts garage. Bet that helped this spot get picked out. They're putting less spots in than rooms.
And 16th and Main just became a VERY busy streetcar stop in 2018+
That's 1050 hotel rooms at this stop. Just 60% occupancy with 1.5 people per room is 950 people every day.
This also instantly changed the skyline. This is in position to block view of everything due north of it from the Liberty Memorial. That means P&L is going to be mostly hidden from that view for the first time in 90 years.

Sweet. I love how this extends "downtown" (to some) over the loop.kboish wrote:

This isn't uncommon. The Chartwell project is around double rooms to parking.flyingember wrote:Notice how this is across the street from the large arts garage. Bet that helped this spot get picked out. They're putting less spots in than rooms.

It is true that a lot of downtown hotels offer shuttle service from the airport, so that makes sense.KCPowercat wrote:This isn't uncommon. I don't know of one downtown hotel that offers shuttle service to the airport. Not one.flyingember wrote:It is true that a lot of downtown hotels offer shuttle service from the airport, so that makes sense.KCPowercat wrote:This isn't uncommon.
