Went to the game yesterday.....few observations:

Bautista has loads of potential
Sisco let Bautista down
Costa has a rag arm
It was funny watching the hard core Sweeney booers giving high fives to each other late in the game when he hit the 2 run dong
Vasquez was TOUGH..had an amazing off speed pitch working...Grudzielanek showed he could be hit, though, with that opposite field double...Royals hitters fed off that hope

I was there too. I was very impressed by Bautista's stability and endurance. I was less than impressed by Angel Berroa, who used to be my favorite Royal. On one play, in particular, he just let a grounder roll right past him into the outfield, and turn into one of the Sox's biggest plays. At least Sweeney isn't afraid to dive for a catch.

But we don't need Sweeney diving and risking an injury....

I'll admit that every time he moved or was up to bat, I would say something like, "oop! He broke his knee."

Sanders got another HR so far today.

The royals have also just said that Hernandez will have to start at least 1 more game because of his performance yesterday. He had 73 pitches in 3 innings.

Poor Sisco.

He can't get a left handed hitter out or secure a lead to save his life.

Good game, killer loss. Good to see some fight in the boys. Tough luck for Sisco, the ump really screwed him over.

Sisco needs to get his shit together.  But hey, at least Berroa walked.  I guess there's a little silver lining in everything.

I didn't see the game.  How did the home plate umpire screw Sisco?

First he took him on a baloon ride at sunset, followed by dinner at a romantic beach resturant....

It was a 2-2 count and on the next pitch the UMP called it a ball. They went to an over the plate shot and it was down the center exactly! Sisco ended up walking him instead of getting a SO.

Is there anyone who follows baseball who doesn't think our first week MVP is Elmer Dessens?

He needs a chance to be the number 4 starter. He deserves it, and that opportunity is one of the reasons he signed with the Royals.

i would say dessens, yeah. however, when he signed, you can even look on the royals site, in the archives, he signed to be a relief pitcher, not a starter. and was clear on that.

the guy in spring training that earned a starters job and got screwed out of it in favor of assfeldt, was mike wood. and he looked good today, getting out of a no outs bases loaded jam against sheffield and a rod, says a lot.
