It would seem to me that if you allow drive-up lanes at downtown restaurants you are essentially dooming a lot of restaurant spaces without them in pre-existing buildings. It sort of creates unfair competition. They pull away enough business to make some restaurants go under because profit margins are so thin in restaurants anyway.

It's so frustrating in some respects because I've seen people pull out of drive-up lanes with their food into a parking space to eat, instead of just going into the restaurant, ordering, and eating there.

I've found many times that it's faster to park and go in and get my food, and then leave than going through the drive-up lane.
