If Lew is getting out right now, maybe he doesn't think he can save KU. Not a good sign.

So, KU clears Perkins in their "internal investigation," but he resigns the next day?
Hmmm... something's fishy!![Think :-k](./images/smilies/eusa_think.gif)

Re: KU ticket scandal
I'd love for Lew to be the new commisioner of the Big XII or whatever the hell conference KU, K-State, and MU are going to be a part of next month.
And I'm 100% serious.
If we can just keep the IRS, FBI, and Department of Justice at bay, we could use the most corrupt, unethetic, cut-throat, back room dealing, disgusting mother effer' available for the job to lead this group and have the sack go head to head with the Pac 10 and Big 10.

Mangino needs a personal chef, and Lew knows how to bring the pork?

My thoughts exactly. I hope this isn't KU's way of giving him a mildly graceful exit before we learn something new (or distancing themselves from him). Best case, this is just Lew not wanting to be an impediment to future AD searches and having other, less stressful opportunities.NDTeve wrote: Hopefully another shoe isn't about to drop.

Re: KU ticket scandal
Will he probably wind up paying a relatively trivial fine to the state - sure. Do I believe that Treadmillgate is anything more than a minor bit of bullshit or any sort of evidence that Lew was an inherently "dirty" administrator - absolutely not.KCPowercat wrote: Lew gets formal ethics complaint and possible fine.....he still clean and innocent in your eyes lenexa?

The Department of Justice doesn't waste their time effing around with the small fish. So, if you think the federal government is sitting around and wasting their time and resources on some low level assistants in the athletic department the equivalent of John Gotti's money counters and they're just going to call er a day, you're absolutely kidding yourself.
This is far from over for Lew.

Re: KU ticket scandal
They already got their headlines on the backs of the university name - objective achieved. Now that Lew is retired he doesn't exactly bring the same sort of sizzle. Regardless, there has been zero evidence disclosed of anything beyond those charged. If the DOJ thought they could make a bigger play of it, why did they already lay down their cards?MidtownCat wrote: The Department of Justice doesn't waste their time effing around with the small fish.

Re: KU ticket scandal
First of all, I don't think they have anything on Lew.KCPowercat wrote: Just to be clear your position is these government agencies are simply out to get ku/Lew?
Second of all, yes, I do suspect that the DOJ targeted this investigation for maximum potential media exposure. Pay attention to federal white colar crime prosecution and you will quickly realize that their case selection is 95% driven by maximizing exposure. They have very limited resources so it is semi-official policy to ensure that every case they bring forward achieves the maximum news coverage. Or do you really believe that Marth Stewart was really the dirtiest insider trader they could lay their hands on?
They already got their time in the spotlight on the backs of it being KU; besides there is absolutely zero indication that there is anything more to the story than what is already out so MC's trolling is pretty baseless.
