Voted at 3:45 at Meyer and Rockhill. In and out in a few minutes, no lines or anything. Painless.

what an ass. damn.jlbomega wrote: I didn't know the 6th District extended south of the river at any point. I always thought the actual city of BS was in Skelton country. Since BS is barely in the district (in fact some portions of the city limits of BS could be in another district) I think you can see where I may have been off.
I would like to commend you on changing the subject. That 3 second Google search on that absurd point you were trying to make is going on 30 minutes now.

Re: i voted.
We usually vote at Swinney Elementary at 47th and Jarboe, but either some or all of us who vote there received mailers switching us to Pembroke Hill School. We got there at 6 a.m., already a line out to the parking lot. When the doors opened, it moved fairly quickly, but we were still there till about 7:15. The touchscreen machine they had got shut down after the first person used it due to a malfunction in how it had been set up, so we all voted with scantron ballots. I wonder if they got the machine fixed later in the day and if they preserved the vote that was in it, or had the lady submit a provisional ballot on scantron.

i voted. Wornall Road Baptist at ~3:30. I totally avoided prime time and was rewarded by walking right in and doing the deed. A resounding yes on Prop C and LRT...now I await with some nervousness and much excitement the future direction of our country, city and region.
are we spinning free?

I got to my voting place in south KC at exactly 4 pm and voted just before 6 pm. My husband attempted to vote in the morning, but after waiting in line for an hour, he had to get to work. He came back at 5 pm and he voted at 6:30.
According to everyone I talked to, our wait times were pretty standard for this particular place. They did have bagels and spreads set up and someone came around with bottled water and snack packs. I brought my own water, a book, and my mp3 player, so I was set for the wait.

You were one of those people who got to cut in line in front of me just because I didn't have the correct last name.AllThingsKC wrote: I got to my polling place at 12th & Washington at about 8:45am. The line was out the door, and down the around the corner. I was told by people leaving that they had waited over 2 hours to vote.
I had only been in line for about 10 minutes when an election worker came up to me and said, "Hey! I know you! You're the awesome AllThingsKC! You can come inside and vote right away because Kansas City just adores you!" She said because my name was AllThingsKC, I could go through much shorter "A-G" line and get out of the long, long "H-Z" line.
I finished voting just after 9:00am. The whole process was about 15 minutes. If my last name didn't start with "C," it could have been about 2 hours.
I walked up at 8:35 and left at about 9:50. If only they could have changed how the books were divided. One of the people next to me had been working earlier at a different election location and said that they could change how the lines were divided in the books. She even asked one of the election guys if they were going to do this and he said probably not. The worst part was that I drove by around 4pm and there was no one standing outside. I guess I should have just waited until later.

Re: i voted.
just a bit of follow-up on this since i've been MIA. i ran the downtown staging location for the obama campaign and we monitored 11 polling places in wards 1, 2, 11, 12, 13, and 14 (basically west bottoms to the independence border along I-70). there were long lines from 5 AM through mid-afternoon, but anyone could have walked right in and voted after 4 PM at most of these places. we had no reports of intimidation or misinformed poll workers and our office closed up around 8 to celebrate.
if missouri doesn't move to advance voting before 2012, there ought to be a serious outcry.
on an unfortunate side note, the main campaign office at 31st and gillham was shut down because people were inundating what little staff was there and looting campaign materials (not sure why... maybe to sell it at a premium to the french on ebay for cash?).

Voted at westwood city hall. Got there a tad after 8...walked right in and voted. Took a total of maybe 10 minutes. Nice.
