One block. The street at the lower right is Baltimore. The street in the lower left is 31st.

Would b ideal if Northpoint got the NW corner of 31st and Main as well.

I'm surprised they didn't want to do this on 31st & Main

This would be a good opportunity to widen the sidewalk along 31st and narrow the roadway.

can imagine a road diet would be in the cards. didn't 31st get a road diet through Union Hill?

Yes and no. It was just traffic calming (2 travel lanes down to 1 in each direction) with no rebuilding/widening of the sidewalks.

Damn, that's what really needs to be done. However, if the E-W KU-TSC Connector is decided to run East on 31st I could see a true road diet happening!

Interior abatement work already is underway at the old hospital, and demolition is scheduled to begin in late spring, according to Owen Haake of NorthPoint. Vertical construction will then begin in late summer.
Can't wait for this and Mac's project to break ground. Exciting seeing movement along Main in Midtown.

Is “The Residences at 31st and Baltimore” the final name for this project?

I hope the design is a bit more daring and urban than what's been approved, but keep the same height. The Main and 31st Street frontages should have top-notch activation to make up for the lack thereof next door.

Demolition has reached the tricky part: chipping away at the remnants around occupied condos.

And that last low rise section standing was the psych ward. I was changing residences and wanted to get rid of an aquarium collection so I dumped my fish into the psych ward aquarium. My fish promptly ate the resident fish as patients watched.
