Suburban Sprawl - Cut down all of the trees and name the streets after them.

Downtown has about 5,000 hotel rooms I believe....you guys gotta quit limiting our downtown to such a small area if you want to compare it to other downtown's.....it will never work when you are comparing a mile circle to other downtown's (for this example, St. Louis' downtown)....it just doesn't work.
5k is kind of a guess. Might contact the CVB or downtown council, they would tell you.

Oh hell...I forgot the Capri, Royale and Paseo motels Great places for roach encounters!
Seriously though, I was goin' by AAA's 2003 Edition Tour Book for Missouri. They have seven hotels listed for downtown Kansas City (boundaries Missouri River to 28th Street and Wyoming [Kemper Arena] to Vine Street - 3 miles by 2.75 miles). That same book had eighteen listed for downtown St. Louis (boundaries Mississippi River to 23rd Street and I-44 to Martin Luther King Blvd - 2.75 miles by 2.25 miles).

Que...I didn't disagree with your list....sorry if it sounded like that.
there does need to be more inventory downtown but right now with conventions down and everybody trained to tell people "don't stay downtown, stay on the plaza" downtown hotels are already hurting. What needs to happen is more convention space (new ballroom) but at the same time more walkable hotels to Bartle to help support bigger conventions....it's a huge chicken & the egg thing....
There is the new President Hotel...that's opening in 04, right?

More Hotels
Also forgotten in previous mentions are the fabulous Monroe Hotel on Main and the quaint and cozy Cherry Street Inn.
There is no fifth destination.

they are adding a tower to the renovated mayfair hotel....this will surely help downtown stl. get more convention business!
