Given what just happened with the mayors CM this isn't a good luck. As the poster stated above theres plenty of people who view our city hall as unprofessional. We are getting Lucas fatigue, he's no longer the up and coming star he once was.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:10 amYou understand this is normal right? There are litigious people against every public entity trying to get a buck.

Re: 2023 KCMO Election
This is a beautiful case of "fuck around and find out". He can use his free speech all day long, but his employer owes him nothing and can fire him for doing anything in his personal time that may hurt their own interests. This isn't the only job of his that's suffered because of his political activism. You can't bite the hand that feeds.Belvidere wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 7:25 amI am not acquainted or affiliated with anybody in this case so I don't have any allegiances. I like the values KCT has, and I think the Housing trust fund was a good thing, but they sometimes exploit the people they say they're trying to help. The politics have become very ugly. I don't mind loud or vociferous protest as long as it's effective and truthful, and if the advice you are giving vulnerable people is valid.
I don't see a strong enough legal case to receive big damages. Maybe reputational repair. I doubt this is the sole reason this guy's career isn't doing well.
However, based on personal experience with our current local administration, everything rings true. They are this unprofessional and manipulative. The chickens are finally coming home to roost.

How can you be a neutral journalist and be leading the rather progressive actions? Or tweeting many of the things he tweeted (including many proven false stammers)? It’s like calling Howard Stern a journalist

I think it depends on the media outlet's rules. I don't doubt that his course was risky. Not what I would do.
By the same token, it was dumb for anyone in the mayor's office to make such a phone call or inquiry, especially after being caught lying and delaying information requests. A bit hypocritical.
Nobody looks professional here.

Unsure when/how he left KCUR or Sporting.
The media has been stymied for a long time, as their recent joint "open letter" showed. They just didn't say anything publicly until after Platt left.
Which is another level of crap.

Completely agree. The trend of journalists behaving publicly with this much bias should immediately discredit a news organization. In general, I really respect the void that KCUR is filling in a generally deteriorating local news market, and probably mostly align with the platform, but employing someone like this is not doing any favors to the journalism profession. It also leads me to question any factual reporting on what actually transpired in this situation.

He was an announcer, not a journalist.UMKCroo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 3:46 pm Completely agree.
