They can't seem to get ownership groups together to bid on an MLS team and build a SSS stadium. I remember it being a great hotbed for youth and college soccer, so I don't know what the deal is.chaglang wrote:What's happened to soccer in St. Louis? For years it was a hotbed and fueled SLU's 10 national championships. Kansas City seems to have completely eclipsed it.

They're about to get shut out of MLS altogether if they don't get something solid quickly. San Antonio, Miami, Sacramento, Las Vegas and MSP are all further along than St Louis for the last expansion spots. Who knows when another round of expansion could happen.

So what is the capacity of the stadium FCKC plays at? I haven't been by since they moved to the UMKC area, but can't imagine it would be more than around 5K.

But, it would be incredibly easy for them to add sections of seating if they need to.

Watching Kc Current play on tv right now. 2-0. Playing great, not many shots of the city. Always watch for jest thr shot of home town. Been checking out the traffic cams lately. Great shot of the Farris Wheel. Looks like it would be a fun day downtown.

Just got what the name current means. The shot from field showing the Missouri riverfinial clicked in my brain. River current
. Duh. Even thowthe current in that shot was no existent. Guess they dont fish for catfish like they use to in my youth. Would always see people bank fishing when I lived at 17th & Broadway.
3-0 at the half.

Announced a sellout but there were a fair number of open seats. Weather was rough, cold and very windy.

Probably 1 or 2 losing seasons away from being irrelevant. The whole hype seems forced.

Denver building 14,500 seat stadium (+3,000 on CPKC) for new NWSL team. 3 miles south of downtown, next to RTD station. https://www.denverpost.com/2025/03/18/d ... m-details/

Are they still panning on expanding the CPKC stadium?
